A Case Management Study On The Living Dilemma Of The Decentralized Support Deprived Elderly In C Village

The issue of decentralized support for the elderly in extreme poverty is one of the important bottlenecks that hinder the development of rural elderly care security in China.How to leverage the social welfare delivery system function of social work,explore the models,methods,and strategies for social work to intervene in the issue of decentralized support for the elderly in extreme poverty,and improve the socialized elderly care security mechanism is not only a need for the development of China’s elderly care security industry,but also a mission and responsibility of social work in the new era.Based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory and social support theory,this paper uses a case management approach to intervene in the life hardships of the scattered elderly living in C village in East China.The study concluded that the elderly with special hardship in scattered care in rural areas generally suffer from "multiple illnesses and difficulties in maintaining health","insufficient daily care and lack of home security","lack of interpersonal interaction and mental depression",and so on."They have obvious needs for health maintenance,daily care,housing improvement and interpersonal communication.In this regard,social workers have been working on "linking medical resources to meet health maintenance needs," "linking neighborhood resources to provide daily care," "implementing housing reform policies to facilitate housing renovation," and"Seeking peer support and guiding interpersonal interactions" to help the case owners solve their difficulties and improve their quality of life,and achieved satisfactory results.This study also explores the methods and strategies of case management intervention in the life difficulties of rural dispersed elderly people in need.Research suggests that case management has a comparative advantage in resolving the multiple living difficulties of dispersed support for impoverished elderly people;Collecting neighborhood and volunteer resources is an effective way to provide daily care for the dispersed support of the elderly in extreme poverty;Official support from the government,village committees,and other organizations is a necessary guarantee for solving the major problem of decentralized support for the elderly in extreme poverty.
