A Study On The Phenomenon Of Adulthood In Children’s Short Videos

In the 1980s,Merowitz,a representative of the media environment school,discussed the adultization of children in television media.Nowadays,with the increasing popularity of mobile Internet and electronic media,the trend of adultization of children is more serious.Short videos attract children deeply because of their low access threshold,simple operation,and diverse content.However,due to the imperfect content classification and distribution mechanism for children and adults on the short video platform,children are more deeply involved through intuitive short videos.In the adult world,it has caused a series of social concerns.Therefore,this paper takes the Kuaishou platform as an example to study the adultization phenomenon in children’s short videos,and mainly solves three problems:Is there any adultization phenomenon in children’s short videos?What are the specific manifestations of these adult phenomena?How to deal with the adultization phenomenon in children’s short videos?This paper takes the short videos of children aged 6-14 as the research object,and uses content analysis,case study and in-depth interviews to analyze the adultization phenomenon in children’s short videos.By using FineBI software to analyze the content of 300 children’s short videos,it is found that there are obvious adultization phenomena in children’s short videos in terms of characters,voices,texts and types.Through further analysis of in-depth interviews and case studies,these adultization phenomena are embodied in several aspects such as children’s appearance,behavior,discourse system,emotional expression,and adultization of values.Finally,the paper puts forward countermeasures for the adultization phenomenon in children’s short videos:From the social level,the government needs to improve laws and regulations and implement information classification management;schools should pay attention to media education,and strengthen systematization,pertinence and practicality;social organizations should actively Participate and play a co-governance role under the leadership of the government.From the platform level,it is necessary to strengthen checks,continuously optimize content,improve technology,promote content differentiation analysis and optimize algorithms,and standardize algorithm ethics in accurate push.At the family level,parents should pay attention to education and reasonably guide children to use short videos,and set an example to help children form healthy media usage habits.The research on the adultization phenomenon in children’s short videos is not only of practical significance but also of humanistic concern,which is worthy of our in-depth discussion.This research is helpful to establish the correct concept of child-centered,regulate the unhealthy phenomena in the media,and let children grow up healthily in a good media environment.
