| Purpose: According to data released by the China Disabled Persons’ Federation,the total number of persons with disabilities in China has reached 85.02 million,of which 5.68 million are intellectual disability,accounting for 6.68 percent of the total number of persons with disabilities in China.Compared with mild and moderate children,children with severe intellectual disability have more severe limitations in intellectual function and adaptive behavior.Therefore,this population is not only in healthy-related physical fitness in all aspects of the state of long-term lag,low level,but also more restricted in daily life,the need for greater support and scope,wider,the quality of life is lower.The importance of the development of fundamental movement skills,as the ability to coordinate the basic movements of the human body,and its relevance to children with intellectual disabilities provide a new research perspective for the health promotion of this population,however,there are few researches on the effect of fundamental movement skills on children with severe intellectual disability at home and abroad.Based on this,this study explored the effects of 16-week fundamental movement skills intervention on healthy-related physical fitness and activity of daily living of children with severe intellectual disability,in order to promote the severely intellectual disability children’s healthy-related physical fitness and activity of daily living to improve the ability to provide theoretical support and practical basis.Methods: Thirty children with severe intellectual disability aged from 6 to 12 were randomly divided into experimental group(n=15,mean age 9.73±1.49)and control group(n=15,mean age 9.13±1.64).The experimental group was trained in fundamental movement skills for 60 minutes five times a week for 16 weeks.The control group kept regular physical activities during the experiment.The test indexes mainly include two parts: healthy-related physical fitness and activity of daily living,healthy-related physical fitness is measured in terms of body composition(height,weight,BMI),upper body strength(grip strength),core strength(one-minute SIT-UPS),lower body strength(vertical jump),cardiorespiratory endurance(PACER),and flexibility(Forward Bend in new position),The functional scale in the Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory(PEDI)was used to measure the activity of daily living.Data Analysis: Independent sample t test was used to test the difference between the experimental group and the control group.2×2 repeated measures ANOVA was used to analyze the data of the experimental group and the control group before and after the experiment.Results:(1)The independent sample t test showed that there was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the indexes of healthy-related physical fitness and the scores of activity of daily living(p>0.05).(2)2×2 repeated measures ANOVA showed that after intervention,lower limb muscle strength and cardiorespiratory endurance increased significantly(p<0.05),and that after intervention,they also improved significantly compared with the control group(p<0.05).The healthy-related physical fitness of the control group had no significant change before and after the experiment(p>0.05).(3)2×2 repeated measures ANOVA showed that after intervention,the self-care ability and mobility increased significantly in the experimental group(p<0.05),and it also improved significantly in the post-test results compared with the control group(p<0.05).There was no significant change in the scores of activity of daily living of the control group before and after the experiment(p>0.05).Conclusions:(1)After 16 weeks of fundamental movement skills intervention,the improvement of healthy-related physical fitness in children with severe intellectual disability was mainly reflected in lower limb muscle strength and cardiorespiratory endurance.(2)After 16 weeks of fundamental movement skills intervention,the activity of daily living of children with severe intellectual disability also improved significantly,mainly in self-care ability and mobile function. |
