With the continuous exposure of sexual assault cases by the media in recent years,the victims tend to be younger and more acquaintances commit crimes.Therefore,the education of sexual assault prevention for children in China is generally lacking,especially in rural areas.In addition,the lack of self-protection ability of rural children,the lack of family sexual safety,the lack of school sexual safety resources,and the conservative traditional ideas in rural areas make rural children more likely to become victims.Therefore,sex safety education for rural children is very necessary.This study took children from X village in Shandong Province as the research object.Through questionnaires,parents’ cognition,behavior and attitude towards children’s sex safety education,as well as the status quo of children’s sex safety education in schools,and semi-structured interview method was used to understand the situation of rural children receiving sex safety education.Semi-structured interview was used to understand the status of rural children’s sexual safety.Based on social learning theory and social support theory,this study intervenes in rural children’s sexual safety through group work method,which can effectively combine theory with practice.The results of this study show that group work is feasible to intervene in the sexual safety of rural children,which can well meet the needs of rural children for sexual safety knowledge.Using picture books,scene simulation,role playing and other forms,not only accords with the characteristics of children’s physical and mental development,but also helps children to master the knowledge of sexual safety.Guided by social learning theory and social support theory,children can master the knowledge of sexual safety through observation and learning by using the power of example and demonstration.In the form of picture books,animations and other forms,children can further maintain the knowledge they have learned,and reproduce the observed behaviors in different dangerous situations through participation.Through the way of prize competition and praise,strengthen children’s motivation,let children participate in the experience of the whole group process.The traditional way of learning has been changed,and children can apply what they have learned to practice by means of edutainment.The development of this study has achieved certain results.Through the form of pre-and post-test,we know that children can accurately know the location of their private parts,learn how to identify some different dangerous situations,and learn how to protect themselves and seek help.However,this study also has some limitations.It is not enough to intervene in rural children’s sexual safety only by group work,and multi-party collaboration is also needed.At the same time,professional social work institutions are introduced in rural communities to actively link safety related resources and remedy the shortage of safety resources.As the objects of this study are rural children,the situation is different in each place and may not be applicable in urban communities.Although this study is not replicable,it is worthy of reference.Therefore,this study explores some feasible methods and puts forward relevant suggestions to further enrich the research on rural children’s sexual safety. |
