In the field of psychology, the exploration of human morality focuses on the "actual" part, which is different from the speculation of "should" in philosophy and ethics. There is a relatively mature theoretical basis for moral cognition in moral psychology, but little is known about the mechanism behind an individual’s actual moral behavior.Among them, there are not many studies on the mechanism of moral behavior consistency, that is,under what circumstances does individual moral behavior remain consistent, and under what circumstances does it fluctuate? Exploring the characteristics and influencing factors of the moral behavior consistency has important theoretical value for further exploration of the relationship between moral behavior, moral cognition and moral quality, and also has important practical significance for social moral civilization and order. This study takes college students as the research object to explore the consistency of moral behavior and its influencing factors.First of all, study 1 was conducted to formulate a reliable and valid "College Student Moral Behavior Self-Assessment Questionnaire" as an effective measurement tool for college students’ moral behavior.Secondly, based on the continuous behavior paradigm, study 2 uses the difference test between the pre-test and post-test of self-assessment questionnaire to verify the influence of the previous moral behavior of college students on the subsequent moral behavior, and the difference status. Finally, behavioral experiments were designed in study 3 to further verify the results of study 1,and to explore the impact of rational and experiential thinking styles on college students’ moral behavior and consistency.Research indicates:(1)The College Student Moral Behavior Self-Assessment Questionnaire developed in this study has good reliability and validity. The scale comprehensively reflects the moral behavior situation faced by college students in daily life from five dimensions:academic development behavior, public normative behavior, realistic interpersonal behavior,Internet use behavior, and pure altruistic behavior. It is an effective measurement tool for college students’ moral behavior performance.(2)Among college students, previous moral behaviors do not inhibit subsequent moral behaviors, and there is no moral licensing effect, but shows moral congruence and moral compensation. There are differences in the consistency of moral behavior, mainly affected by the previous level of overall moral behavior, prohibited moral behavior, academic development behavior, realistic interpersonal behavior,Internet use behavior, pure altruistic behavior, and gender.(3)Rational thinking style has affected on moral behavior and its consistency.Individuals with a low rational thinking style scored higher on subsequent moral behavior than individuals with a high rational thinking style. For individuals with a low rational thinking style, the previous initiation of moral behavior leads to the subsequent performance of more moral behaviors, and the previous initiation of neutral behavior leads to the subsequent performance of less moral behaviors. For individuals with a high rational thinking style, whether or not to initiate moral behavior, there is no significant difference in the performance of subsequent moral behaviors.(4)Experiential thinking style has no effect on moral behavior and its consistency.
