| The popularity of short video applications in the mobile era has brought new social visibility to the public at the bottom of society.Under the "visibility",users’ media participation is increasingly transformed into a labor form that serves the proliferation of platform capital. This paper will focus on the self-performance of disabled groups in media participation on the Kuaishou short video platform.Based on content analysis, media text analysis, and online participation observation, this group will be asked about the labor practices and consequences of self-presentation on the Kuaishou platform.Outline their coping methods, reveal their media survival experience, and further clarify the opportunities and challenges brought to them by policy, economic and technological changes. The study found that the narrative discourse of the Kuaishou short video platform realized the mobilization and rationalization of the performance labor of the disabled youth group, and incorporated them into the digital labor framework.Technological empowerment is a dynamic and complex process, and disabled young bloggers have the ability to carry out independent communication practices, while being constrained by visibility and the fragility and risk of digital labor. With "visibility" as the core, disabled young bloggers actively adapt to the media practice logic encouraged by the platform, clarify the use of short videos according to the functions and styles of the platform, and integrate economic activities with disability culture;on the other hand, they try a swinging platform to reduce dependence on a single medium and platform and achieve its own communication purpose. This kind of response and pursuit of "visibility" not only brings positive significance to the economic accumulation and social identity of the disabled youth group, but also brings about potential consequences such as entertainment, generalization and even alienation of the medium of life. This study is of great significance to reflect the digital situation of the disabled in the era of mobile Internet, and provides experience feedback for the implementation of "digital assistance for the disabled". |
