Strength quality is the primary quality in competitive sports, which plays a positive role in the development of other qualities. It is also an important basis for mastering techniques and implementing tactics, and the basis for achieving excellent results in many sports events. As one of the most basic techniques in basketball, passing is the link between players on the court and the organization. It is also an essential link for executing tactics. The quality of passing directly affects the quality of executing tactics and the success rate of executing attacks, and can even influence the outcome of the game. The passing effect has a great relationship with the upper body strength of basketball players. The combination of strength and skill is an important premise for completing the passing motion perfectly. The upper body muscle strength ensures that basketball players can master and use various motion techniques, which lays a foundation for the training and application of basketball players’ passing techniques. Objective: To explore the influence of bench press training on the passing effect of 15-17 year old male basketball players,so as to provide theoretical and experimental support for improving the passing effect of male basketball players. Methods: This paper mainly adopts the methods of literature, teaching experiment and mathematical statistics.Firstly, the test items to evaluate the passing effect of basketball players were evaluated and screened by Delphi method, and the bench press training load and training amount of 15-17 year old male basketball players were scored and evaluated.Then,24 15-17 year old male basketball players were selected from the school basketball team of Dongcheng No.1 Middle School of Xi ’an City for a 12-week teaching experiment. Finally, the test was carried out and SPSS25.0 was used for statistical analysis of the test data. The following test results were obtained:1.Through the two rounds of Delphi method, the experts agree that the basketball passing effect of 15-17 year old male basketball players can be evaluated by four test scores: the length of long pass, the time of Z-shaped pass, the time of circle pass and the number of times of wall pass(40s);12 weeks 4 sets *5 25 kg bench press training style suitable for 15-17 years old men’s basketball players.2.For 15-17 year old male basketball players, after 12 weeks of physical training, the performance of the players in the length of the long pass, the time of the "Z" pass and the circle pass and the number of the wall pass(40s)were significantly improved, and the effect of the bench press training group was better than that of the conventional training group in different degrees.3.The P values of the experimental group before and after the experiment were lower than 0.01,and the P values of the long passing distance,"Z" passing speed, cycle passing speed and wall passing(40s)were significantly different, and the scores of the four tests were improved by 5.38%,8.33%,9.48% and 15.90%,respectively.4.The P values of the control group before and after the experiment were lower than 0.01,and the P values of the long passing distance,"Z" passing speed, circulating passing speed and the wall passing(40s)were significantly different, and the scores of the four tests were improved by 2.69%,5.03%,3.81% and 9.58%,respectively.5.The P values of the experimental group and the experimental group were lower than 0.01 after the experiment, and the P values of the experimental group were lower than 0.01 after the experiment.Compared with the control group, the scores of the experimental group were improved by 2.55%,1.99%,4.13% and 5.05%,respectively.Through further analysis of the test results, the following conclusions are obtained:1.The scores of 40 s long pass,Z-shaped pass speed, circle pass speed and the number of 40 s wall pass can be used to evaluate the basketball passing effect of 15-17 year old male basketball players.12 weeks 4 sets *5 25 kg bench press training style suitable for 15-17 years old men’s basketball players.2.For 15-17 year old male basketball players, after 12 weeks of physical training, the performance of the players in the length of long pass, the time of "Z" pass and circle pass and the number of 40 s pass against the wall were significantly improved.3.For 15-17 year old male basketball players, after 12 weeks of physical training including bench press, the players in the length of long pass, the time of "Z" pass and cycle pass and the number of wall pass(40s)four passing effects were better than the conventional training group to some extent.
