A Comparative Study On The Use Of Offensive And Defensive Transition Tactics Between The Chinese Team And The Team That Have Played Against The Chinese Team In The 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup

Basketball is developing towards a fast and changeable style in the world currently,and various countries pay more and more attention to the transition of offense and defense.In the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup,the Chinese women’s basketball team reached the final again after 28 years and finished the World Cup with the best result in the team’s history.The Chinese team was able to achieve such good results without the development and change of women’s basketball tactics.However,they lost to the US team in both the group stage and the finals,and there is still a certain gap between them and the top teams in the world.And the above results show that,the continuous development of basketball determines the change of tactical play,and the change of tactical play has a direct impact on the team’s performance with the passage of time.The salient feature and important change of modern and high-level basketball games is the rapid offensive and defensive transition,and the value of studying the use of tactics in the offensive and defensive transition phases of the game is undeniable.Therefore,this paper takes the application of offensive and defensive transition tactics of Chinese and foreign women’s basketball teams in the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup as the research object,using literature method,questionnaires survey method,video observation method and mathematical statistical method to study the offensive and defensive transition situation of Chinese and foreign women’s basketball teams in detail,and obtains the following results through the study:(1)The Chinese women’s basketball team made more active switches than its opponents in five of the six games it won,with a lower success rate than the USA and France.The success rates against Korea,Bosnia and Herzegovina,Puerto Rico and France all exceeded 60%;in terms of passive offensive transition and active defensive transition,only the final was lower than the opponent USA.(2)In the active offensive transition,the lowest time taken to attack and shoot was 8.5 seconds for the USA and 9.6 seconds for Australia respectively.Both teams are fast paced in the active offensive transition and will strive to finish the offense quickly at the first time,leaving no extra time for the opponent to defend.The fastest attacking teams in the passive offensive transition continue to be the USA and Australia.The various time of the teams in active and passive defensive transition did not show a large bifurcation,and the type of transition with the greatest difference in defensive time between the teams was the conceded loss defensive transition.(3)In terms of active offensive transition:in terms of initiation method,the number of counterattacking passes after obtaining a backcourt rebound was more than that of stealing the ball,but the success rate of stealing the ball to initiate the offense was slightly higher than that of defending the rebound.China took the most dribble advances against South Korea and had a very high success rate,while the most pass advances were made by the USA and Australia.When offending,the Chinese team uses individual singles,cover and passes more often.In terms of passive offensive transition:There was a better balance of offensive styles than active to offensive.The teams’ first choice was to shoot under the basket in the active offensive transition.In the passive offensive transition,each team takes shooting under the basket as the first choice,and in the passive offensive transition it is also the first choice for offense to break inside and strive for scoring under the basket,but the percentage of long-range three-point shots from outside increases.(4)In terms of active defensive transition:the Chinese team generally defends with full-court leaders at the back,and rarely chooses to use full-court presses.France and Australia defends more aggressively in the advancing phase than in the previous phase;China’s highest defensive success rate was against South Korea at 72.0%and the lowest was in the final against the USA.In terms of passive defensive transition:the highest defensive success rate in the end of the defensive phase was achieved by the USA,with both games being higher than China’s,at 60.4%and 55.5%respectively,while the other teams’ success rates did not vary greatly,being in the 40%-50%range.Each team has all different approach to defending against defeats,but the same point is that they all focused their defensive efforts mainly on preventing the opponent from advancing and ending the game.
