Physical Education and Health" is an important part of the secondary school curriculum system,an important part of the national curriculum in the three-level curriculum management,a complex socio-cultural phenomenon,which is a kind of physical and intellectual activity as the basic means to achieve the promotion of overall development,improve physical quality and overall education level,enhance physical fitness and improve athletic ability according to the laws of human growth and development,skill formation and functional improvement.It is a kind of conscious,purposeful and organized social activity to promote overall development,improve physical quality and overall education,enhance physical fitness and sports ability,improve lifestyle and quality of life,among which,basketball teaching has always been one of the compulsory contents stipulated in the secondary school physical education syllabus.After years of construction and development,all secondary schools have built basketball courts and facilities,which are loved by the majority of students due to the unique charm of basketball,its comprehensive fitness effects and its broad and profound mass base.With the gradual progress of physical education curriculum reform,basketball teaching has been paid more and more attention by all secondary schools.On the occasion of the implementation of the 2022 version of the new curriculum,in order to further understand the current situation of basketball teaching in secondary schools,analyze the existing problems,and put forward targeted development countermeasures in conjunction with the actual situation of secondary schools around the world,so as to promote the high-quality development of basketball teaching in secondary schools and lay the foundation for cultivating excellent talents with comprehensive development of moral,intellectual,physical and aesthetic qualities.This study takes the current situation of basketball teaching in junior middle schools in Liangjiang New Area of Chongqing as the research object,using the method of equal distance sampling,a total of 13 schools were selected as the investigation object of this thesis writing,analyze the current situation of basketball teaching in junior middle schools in Chongqing.The results show that(1)school leaders do not have a good understanding of the nurturing value of basketball teaching,and consider basketball as a strong confrontational sport with certain safety hazards,and attach little importance to it.(2)The number of basketball teachers is insufficient,the teacher structure is unreasonable,and the teaching business ability needs to be further improved.(3)The comprehensive quality of basketball teachers needs to be improved,basketball course teaching objectives are not accurately positioned,teaching content,organization,teaching methods and methods are single,the application of multimedia information teaching methods is less,which is not conducive to the cultivation of students’ interest in basketball and the mastery of skills.(4)There are deviations in the cognition of basketball among secondary school students,especially girls do not fully understand the fitness value of basketball,and the participation rate is low.(5)The assessment and evaluation mechanism of the basketball course is not perfect,and there is no unified assessment standard,and the assessment contents and methods are more arbitrary.(6)Basketball courts and equipment are not sufficient,especially indoor basketball courts are seriously lacking.(7)Secondary school students’ satisfaction with the quality of basketball teaching is not high,and the performance is especially prominent among female secondary school students.Main countermeasures:(1)School leaders should change their understanding of the nurturing value of basketball teaching,put forward requirements for student basketball participation,and develop normative documents to ensure the smooth implementation of basketball teaching.(2)Increase the number of basketball teachers,optimize the structure of teachers,and provide regular training for basketball teachers to improve the teaching level of basketball teachers.(3)Improve the overall quality of basketball teachers,determine the teaching objectives of basketball courses,enrich the content of basketball teaching,diversify organizational forms,innovate teaching methods,and apply multimedia informational teaching methods to the actual teaching process.(4)Strengthen the cognition of basketball among secondary school students,especially pay attention to the bias of the cognition of basketball among different genders,and increase the participation of girls in basketball.(5)Strengthen the evaluation and assessment of basketball teaching,improve the basketball teaching assessment system,and set uniform standards to promote students’ active learning of basic basketball knowledge,basic techniques and basic skills.(6)Increase the investment in funds,venue equipment and facilities,set up special funds for basketball,and improve the classroom guarantee mechanism to ensure the in-depth development of
