| Chemistry is a basic subject that studies the composition,structure,properties,transformations,and applications of substances at the atomic and molecular levels.Its characteristic is to understand matter from the microscopic level,describe matter in symbolic form,and create matter at different levels."Molecular Structure and Properties" is a chapter in the second compulsory module of the selective course "Chemistry" for high school students published by the People’s Education Press.It is a comprehensive and systematic chapter that helps students understand molecules.It is not only a basic explanation of chemistry,but also influences future chemistry learning.Therefore,this chapter plays an important role as a connecting link between the preceding and the following.However,students encounter various difficulties during the learning process of this chapter.Therefore,the author uses methods of interview,questionnaire survey,and diagnostic test to explore the difficulties that high school students in the second-grade encounter in the "Molecular Structure and Properties" chapter,and analyzes the causes of students’ learning difficulties from the perspectives of teachers,students,and knowledge itself,and puts forward reasonable and effective suggestions based on the causes of difficulties.During the internship,the author selected a total of 94 students from two regular classes in the second grade for paper-based exams,distributed questionnaires to students,and conducted interviews with teachers.Through analyzing the results of the exams and questionnaires,as well as the interviews with teachers and students,it was found that there are several reasons that cause students to encounter difficulties in learning the "Molecular Structure and Properties" chapter:(1)The knowledge itself is difficult.(2)Poor mastery of basic knowledge leads to a poor starting stage for learning.(3)Students lack interest in learning.(4)Students’ summarization ability is not enough.(5)Students have a fixed mindset that interferes with their thinking.(6)Students’ knowledge structuring level is weak.(7)Students do not use appropriate learning methods.(8)Teachers’ teaching has certain flaws.Based on the causes of the difficulties in learning the "Molecular Structure and Properties" chapter,corresponding teaching suggestions are proposed:(1)Teachers should grasp students’ dynamics in a timely manner and understand students’ learning status.(2)Fully utilize multimedia animation demonstration to weaken the difficulties caused by knowledge itself.(3)Cultivate students’ interest in learning through multiple channels.(4)Help students clarify the essence of knowledge and inspire them to think comprehensively through the use of positive and negative examples.(5)Use mind maps to help students build knowledge systems.(6)Strengthen curriculum training,accurately grasp the structure of teaching materials,and improve teaching methods. |
