In the context of information and mathematics, mathematics reading has penetrated into every corner of daily life, and is an important channel for people to obtain information and improve their ability. The new curriculum reform requires the cultivation of students’ ability to learn mathematics independently. However, the core of self-study ability is reading ability. In addition,in recent years, the amount of text information has been increased in the math questions of the high school entrance examination, but many students have difficulty in reading math, and have lost points on the topics with large amount of information. So what is the relationship between junior high school students’ math reading and math academic performance? This study takes the students of three grades in junior high school as the research object.Through literature research, questionnaire, interview and other methods, using SPSS software, combined with pie chart, bar chart, list and image,it investigates and studies the mathematics reading status and mathematics academic performance of junior high school students, understands the current mathematics reading situation of junior high school students, and analyzes the correlation between the mathematics reading status and mathematics academic performance of junior high school students.Further explore the influence of various dimensions of mathematical reading(mathematical reading cognition, mathematical reading interest, mathematical reading method, mathematical reading metacognition, and mathematical reading volume)on students’ mathematical academic achievements.Through the research,we can draw the following conclusions:(1)The math reading status of junior high school students is generally average, and there are significant differences in gender.Girls are generally higher than boys; There are also significant differences in grades. On the whole, the third grade is the best, the second grade is the second, and the first grade is the worst.(2)The overall situation of mathematics reading has a positive impact on mathematics academic performance. The univariate linear regression model is:Y=25.413+0.835X。(3)Different dimensions of mathematics reading have a positive impact on mathematics academic performance. The multiple linear regression model is:Y=25.340+0.796X2+1.001X3+0.870X4+0.966X5。Based on the research results,it is possible to start from a reading perspective,by gradually improving junior high school students’ math reading in the actual teaching process, and then improve students’ math academic performance. For this reason, this paper formulates relevant teaching strategies from the five dimensions of mathematical reading for reference.
