With the advancement of education informationization,it is instructive to introduce information technology into secondary vocational classrooms.Blended teaching has attracted much attention because of its advantages such as low participation cost,timely feedback and satisfying students’ individual needs.However,in the current teaching practice of secondary vocational schools,the blended teaching based teaching model is not perfect,the teaching effect is not ideal,there are some phenomena such as students’ inattention in class,students’ interest in learning to some extent hinder the implementation of effective teaching,and ARCS model has been proved to be effective in promoting students’ learning motivation.Therefore,this thesis,starting from the internal factors that affect students’ learning motivation,combined with ARCS model,re-examines blended teaching design and explores the application of ARCS model-based blended teaching in Catering Service and Management in secondary vocational schools,in order to achieve better teaching effects.In this thesis,the ARCS model and related literature of blended teaching were firstly sorted out,relevant theories were deeply analyzed,and the relationship between learning motivation,instructional design and other concepts and learning effect was analyzed.Secondly,questionnaire survey is used to investigate the learning motivation of secondary vocational students to understand the teaching status of "catering service and management" in secondary vocational schools.The interview method was used to interview teachers of specialized courses to understand the classroom teaching status of secondary vocational teachers and point out the direction for the formulation of follow-up motivation strategies.Thirdly,on the basis of blended teaching model,combined with ARCS model,designed blended teaching model based on ARCS model.Finally,taking the students of L School in Zibo as the teaching practice object,the blended teaching based on ARCS model was applied to the classroom teaching of Catering Service and Management in secondary vocational schools.The students’ classroom performance,learning motivation and emotional attitude were measured and evaluated by means of questionnaire survey,interview survey and classroom data collection.Through the comparative analysis before and after the experiment between the experimental class and the control class,it is found that the students in the experimental class have significantly improved their learning motivation level and learning attitude.Based on the teaching theory,this study constructs a hybrid teaching design based on ARCS model.The research results show that the application of this teaching model stimulates students’ learning motivation,enrichis students’ learning experience,improves students’ learning behavior,plays a great role in promoting the study of "Catering Service and Management" course in secondary vocational schools,and provides a reference case for the development of blended teaching of other courses in tourism service and management major in secondary vocational schools in the future.
