| With the rapid development of society, the quality of higher education personnel training requirements has increased, leading to the reconstruction and change of the higher education teaching model, and project-based learning has shown its great potential for personnel training.However,project-based learning is ineffective in higher education, with “shallow and inefficient” student engagement in learning.Classroom learning engagement is one of the key factors affecting the quality of education, and there is an urgent need for research on classroom learning engagement strategies, aiming to optimize the organizational processes of projectbased learning. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore effective strategies for improving classroom learning engagement in project-based learning, with a view to enhancing the quality of project-based learning applications, promoting the effective application of project-based learning in higher education, and driving innovation in the university classroom. The study is based on literature research and survey studies, combining theoretical guidance and practical grounds, making full use of information technology, proposing strategies to promote the classroom learning input of university students in project-based learning, improving the organizational process of project-based learning, and conducting three rounds of action research to verify the effectiveness of the strategies and organizational process. The main research processes and results are as follows:1.A theoretical study and survey of the current state of project-based learning and classroom learning engagement.A systematic review of research related to project-based learning and classroom learning engagement reveals that project-based learning is becoming more widely used in higher education, but has not yet focused on the field of students’ classroom learning engagement, and there is less research related to the integration of them.Survey on the current situation of classroom learning engagement in three dimensions: cognitive engagement, affective engagement and behavioral engagement.Distributing 352 questionnaires and the results showed that there are still many problems with university students’ classroom learning engagement in project-based learning, which reveals the need to improve classroom learning engagement.2.Preliminary construction of strategies to promote classroom learning engagement in project-based learning.Under the guidance of teaching and learning theory and practice,by making full use of information technologies, four strategies to promote classroom learning engagement in project-based learning are proposed: 1)using information technology to build a project learning environment;2)grasping design priorities to promote students’ deep participation;3)diversifying teaching evaluation to maintain an efficient learning state;4)providing timely feedback and summary to deepen the construction of core knowledge.3.Refinement and revision of classroom learning engagement strategies. The study applied the strategies to the Instructional Design course, conducting three rounds of action research to iteratively optimize the organizational process of project-based learning. The second round addressed the issues of ineffective participation and task ambiguity;the third round addressed the issues of lack of reflection and innovation, resulting in a project-based learning organizational process that includes three aspects of classroom learning engagement strategies supported by design, implementation and evaluation.4.Analysis of the effectiveness of the classroom learning engagement strategies. The effectiveness of the strategies was verified through questionnaires, interviews, and productions analysis. The results showed that the application of the teaching strategies and project processes led to a significant increase in classroom learning engagement and deep learning in projectbased learning, with the output project productions serving as strong evidences of increased learning engagement and deep learning occurring. The results of the interviews further reveal the students’ adaptation and satisfaction with the teaching strategies and project processes. The facilitation strategy of classroom learning engagement effectively addresses the problem of “shallow and ineffective” project-based learning in higher education, provides theoretical support for improving the quality of project-based learning, and enriches theories of learning engagement. |
