The continuous innovation of computer and communication technology has promoted the development of information globalization. In this context, every aspect of teenagers’learning and life are changing. As we all know, oriented with core educational ideas of cultivating students’information literacy and improving the level of their information technology, the ultimate goal of information technology course is to lead modernization of education with informatization, to realize leapfrog development of our basic education, to make preparations for cultivating innovative and practical talented person in the 21st century. With the characteristic of fundamentality, applicability, integration and interest in information technology course and different context that teaching needs, the teaching methods about information technology course are more diverse. It is emphasized in the new curriculum reform that we should enhance the subjectivity of students to promote their engagement in teaching actively. So no matter what teaching method or mode it is, paying attention to student engagement has a significance in theory and practice. The flipped classroom instruction mode based on project is formed by combine the project-based learning with the flipped classroom instruction mode. It is not the flip of a lesson but a project. In this teaching mode, students utilize the task list before class, learning autonomously to finish the imparting of knowledge with the help of’360 teacher website’, while during class, the teacher promotes students’ internalization to knowledge by arranging a series of classroom activities according to students’ situation before class. The correlation between pre-class stage and while-class stage is successive and inseparable. So, the degree of student engagement can measure whether the teaching mode is implemented effectively or not. In this mode, student engagement is defined as the synthesis of pre-class engagement and while-class engagement. This paper mainly study student engagement in information technology course under the flipped classroom instruction mode based on project. Through literature research method, drawing on predecessor’s research results about the flipped classroom and the project-based learning, given specific teaching environment, the paper comes up with the flipped classroom instruction mode based on project and carries out empirical research to this mode, formulating specific evaluation criteria of student pre-class engagement and while-class engagement. By tracking the situation of student engagement in real time and using questionnaire survey, the paper knows and analyzes problem and status of student engagement in information technology class under this mode, trying to find out some reason that affect student engagement, putting forward some measures and strategies to promote students participation under the flipped classroom instruction mode based on project, to improve the effect of the implementation of the flipped classroom instruction mode based on project. The paper contains five parts:’Part one’ mainly introduces the background, significance and specific research content and method of this study.Based on a lot of literature at home and abroad,’Part two’defines some core concept, such as ’the flipped classroom instruction mode based on project’,’student engagement’, and make concrete analysis to their present situations, aiming at laying a theoretical foundation for follow-up study.’Part three’ is the design of the study, mainly including the introduce of implementation pattern about ’the flipped classroom instruction mode based on project’, the formulation of evaluation criteria about student engagement, the calculation of student engagement, the design and implementation of relevant questionnaire and the data collection, statistics and analysis method of the research.’Part four’ is the analysis and discussion of the research results.’Part five’ is the summary of the whole study, pointing out the innovation and shortcomings of the study and giving some prospects for the future research work.
