The country vigorously develops innovation and entrepreneurship education,and the level of teachers is a key factor affecting the quality of education.In order to better improve students’ innovation and entrepreneurship abilities,it is necessary to build a professional teaching team.In order to promote the healthy development of innovation and entrepreneurship education,this study focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship mentors.Following the approach of analyzing,discovering,and solving problems,it delves into the current level of specialization of innovation and entrepreneurship mentors and conducts corresponding research on the existing problems in their professional development.The professional development of teachers is influenced by both internal self driving forces and external environment.Therefore,it is proposed that innovation and entrepreneurship mentors strengthen their learning from three dimensions: professional philosophy,professional knowledge,and professional ability.Universities promote the professional construction of innovation and entrepreneurship mentors from three perspectives: training,motivation,and management,in order to provide some improvement opinions and suggestions for the professional development of innovation and entrepreneurship mentors in universities.Through text and data analysis,it has been found that the professional development of innovation and entrepreneurship mentors in Chinese universities has achieved certain results,but there are still situations where the overall number is insufficient,the sources are uneven,and the structure is unreasonable.Based on a questionnaire survey and semi-structured interviews conducted by H University,an analysis was conducted on the reasons for the uneven teaching ability,lack of practical ability,insufficient development motivation,and incomplete evaluation of mentors.Mentors’ cognitive biases in innovation and entrepreneurship and related practical experience are internal factors that affect professional development;However,the school’s insufficient emphasis on the team of innovation and entrepreneurship mentors,limited management efforts,and lack of systematic training are external factors that hinder the professional development of mentors.Finally,the corresponding suggestions are put forward.From the perspective of innovation and entrepreneurship instructors themselves,they should establish a clear understanding of innovation and entrepreneurship education and a scientific concept of self-development;In terms of professional knowledge,continuously improve the ontological knowledge related to education,teaching,and research,strengthen the learning of professional knowledge related to entrepreneurship and innovation,and bring it into classroom teaching;In terms of professional abilities,self-improvement is mainly strengthened from four aspects:innovation and entrepreneurship teaching and research ability,entrepreneurial practice ability,information technology ability,and coordination and cooperation ability.At the school level,increasing attention should be paid to the professional development of innovation and entrepreneurship mentors,and diverse training platforms should be provided to assist teachers in their professional development.The development of teacher incentive systems should start with the evaluation of professional titles and performance-based salaries;Finally,it is important to focus on management assessment,so that the selected innovation and entrepreneurship mentors have a sense of belonging while enhancing team cohesion and cooperation.Through a high standard and strict teacher talent selection and training system,a group of innovative and entrepreneurial talents are gathered to lay a solid foundation for cultivating students.This study analyzes the problems in the professional development of innovation and entrepreneurship mentors,and provides corresponding suggestions for promoting the professional development of innovation and entrepreneurship mentors.
