| In the first semester of elementary school, students actively adjust their perceptions and behaviors to make their mental activities and behaviors more in line with the changes in the surrounding environment and their own developmental needs. In April 2021,the Ministry of Education also pointed out in the Guidance on Vigorously Promoting the Scientific Interface between Kindergarten and Primary School that helping new elementary school students adapt to elementary school life smoothly is one of the important educational tasks in first grade.Since both school and home are the two most important places for elementary school students to live,it is important to build a collaborative parenting community between family and school in order to help new elementary school students adapt to elementary school as soon as possible, which is important for first graders to adapt to elementary school smoothly and grow up in the future. Most scholars have studied the adjustment of first-year students to primary school from the perspective of the early childhood interface or the child’s perspective, and have proposed countermeasures and recommendations. However, school and home are the two most important places for primary school students to live, and as they have just entered primary school from kindergarten, the co-parenting between home and school has an important impact on children’s adjustment to primary school and their future growth.Based on this, this paper uses questionnaire, observation and interview methods to investigate the adjustment of first grade students to school from the perspective of home-school co-education,using Haken’s synergy theory and Piaget’s cognitive developmental stage theory as the theoretical basis of the study. The study found that most first grade students were well adjusted physically and mentally, with the exception of a few students who could not adapt to the primary school routine. The questionnaire survey found that parents of first grade students still need to strengthen their children’s preparation for school in the areas of physical and mental readiness, academic readiness, life readiness and social readiness. There are four reasons that affect the adjustment of first grade students to school: Firstly, new primary school students are not yet mature physically and mentally;Secondly, teachers’ concepts of school adjustment education need to be strengthened;Thirdly, the diversity of students’ personalities adds to the difficulty of school adjustment education;Fourthly, there is a lack of effective interaction and communication between home and school. To address the problem of adjustment to school for new first graders, this paper presents recommendations for facilitating the adjustment of first grade students to school from the perspective of the school, the family and the children themselves:Firstly, schools and teachers should build a good home-school co-parenting mechanism to help children adapt to primary school;Secondly, parents and schools should co-operate to raise children to adapt to school;Thirdly, children should actively co-operate with home and school to improve their own adjustment ability. |
