In recent years,with the emergence of smart phones,the functions of mobile games have continued to increase,and their outstanding social functions have aroused widespread heated discussions.As the main force of mobile game users,college students cannot be ignored.Based on the theory of social capital,this article explores the influence of mobile games on college students’ social capital through participatory observation and interview methods.Through the observation of the two game groups "mini fleet" and "kaihei" and interviews with13 college students,we explored the impact of mobile games on the three manifestations of college students’ social capital,and studied whether college students can use mobile games Form networks,norms and trust.It was found that college students established new interactive channels and gave each other game items through mobile games,which enabled college students to expand their social networks,form information networks and exchange networks within their gaming groups.The game groups joined by college students have formed reciprocal and punitive norms in the game groups they belong to along with the changes in the game mode and game time together,the requirements for cooperation in mobile games,and the emotional support model established by college students through mobile games.And a sense of trust is established through cooperative behaviors,establishing emotional support models,and so on.Therefore,this study explores the three forms of social capital that college students can use through mobile games to form the network,norms and trust,and believes that mobile games can help college students build social capital and have positive significance for the construction of college students’ social capital.
