Graduates’ employment is an important issue concerning about the citizen’s livelihood.However, no matter the college enrollment, but also the financial crisis has caused theimbalance between the supply and demand of college graduates in the society. What’smore, the college education which is not persistent with the social needs leads to thefurther decline of the graduates’ competitiveness. During the tough employment situation,phenomenon of "rich second generation" and "official second generation" has triggered aheated debate, college students are confused whether a wealthy father or the individualtalent is more important when choosing a good job. According to this, from theprofessional differences contingency perspective, this article chooses students fromHuazhong University of Science and Technology who will graduate in2012as researchobjects to discuss the influence and reason of human capital and social capital on thequality of employment.This thesis was divided into six chapters; Chapter1was mainly introduction whichexpatiated the background, significance, purpose, innovation and structural arrangementsof this study. Chapter2was literature review about human capital, social chapters and theimpact on the quality of employment. In the Chapter3, this paper presented a theoreticalmodel and hypothesis from three aspects of human capital’s and social capital’s impact onthe quality of employment and the regulatory role of professional differences. Chapter4reported some situation of the questionnaire design and data acquisition, concretely,including questionnaire design process, framework, modification and the variablesmeasurement. In the Chapter5, this study tested the hypothesis and data analysis of325graduates from17faculties of Huazhong University of Science and Technology based onthe SPSS software.Through the collected data, although the325graduates has almost thesame education background, however, we found that:(1) The human capital had nosignificant effect on the quality of graduates’ employment.(2)The home-based socialcapital has a positive impact on the quality of employment; however, the school-basedsocial capital doesn’t have a positive effect on the quality of employment.(3)The socialcapital has a more significant positive correlation than the human capital in the quality of graduates’ employment.(4)The relation of professional supply and demand ratio and thehuman capital is interacted, the larger the professional supply and demand ratio is, themore competitive for choosing jobs. The human capital has a positive influence on qualityof graduate’s employment.(5)The professional supply and demand ratio has nomoderating effect on the home-based social capital, but significantly strengthens thepositive impact of the school-based social capital on the quality of employment.(6)Thedegree of professional socialization has no moderating impact on the relation of humancapital, the home-based social capital and the quality of employment, but significantlystrengthens the positive impact of the school-based social capital on the quality ofemployment. Finally, we put forward the conclusion of this study, expounded thetheoretical and practical meaning further, as well as the research limitations and futurestudy directions.
