| As the eternal pursuit of human beings, happiness is an individual’s self-evaluation of his overall situation and an important reference for a country to improve people’s well-being.With the "Social Turning of Spatial Research" and "Spatial Turning of Social Research" in social science research, there is also a research trend of "spatial turning" on happiness.Neighborhood space,as the basic unit of residents’ daily life and practice, has feedback and initiative, and has the ability to shape the development of residents. The study of "neighborhood space" provides a new theoretical dimension for understanding individual well-being.This study is supported by the Neighborhood Effect Theory, focusing on the structure-action analysis framework, using the CLDS2018 survey data, and conducting a multi-level empirical analysis through the HLM method, focusing on investigating the social interaction mechanism and environmental mechanism of the Neighborhood Effect at the individual level and the community level.Influence on residents’ subjective well-being,this paper attempts to test the applicability of the neighborhood effect theory in explaining the subjective well-being of Chinese residents based on the localized experience of neighborhood space. The study found that although the current state of inequality and class segmentation in my country has not reached the level of separation in the West, the neighborhood effect theory still has a strong ability to explain the spatial differences in happiness in my country.First, residents’ subjective evaluation of well-being has a typical hierarchical structure. The social interaction mechanism and environmental mechanism of the neighborhood effect significantly affect residents’ subjective well-being from the individual level and the community level, respectively.Secondly, from the perspective of the individual level, the social interaction mechanism of the neighborhood effect has a significant impact on residents’ subjective well-being.From the perspective of the community level, the environmental mechanism of the neighborhood effect affects residents’ subjective well-being from the two dimensions of social environment and ecological environment. In order to understand the impact of social interaction mechanism and environmental mechanism on residents’ subjective well-being in more detail, and to test the robustness of the obtained results, this study conducted a further study on the core elements of subjective well-being,life well-being,life satisfaction and economic satisfaction. The study found that the specific action path of the neighborhood effect mechanism on the three core elements of residents’ subjective well-being has a similar impact as that of subjective well-being.Finally,the mediating role of the environmental mechanism of the neighborhood effect in the social interaction mechanism further shapes the individual’s differentiated happiness experience. The results show that the impact of residents’ non-institutionalized participation on their subjective well-being will increase with the positive development of the average level of community education, the overall class status of the community, and the level of community environment. On the basis of rationalizing the complex relationship between space and well-being in terms of theory and evidence, this study proposes that the study of well-being should grasp its spatial logic,"examine society with spatial thinking",and analyze ethical values, residents and space.Three aspects of construction explore the procedural mechanism and path to reach the other side of happiness. |
