Conflict And Compromise: Intergenerational Representation Of Femininity In Dating Corners

Femininity is an important basis for women’s production and life.Nowadays,the presentation and influence of femininity become the cornerstone for women to step into a beautiful love and marriage.The marriage age of contemporary young women is generally delayed,especially "three high" women.The marriage and love problems exposed in this group have attracted much attention,and femininity has therefore become a hot topic.In the dating corner,a large number of single young women belong to this group.Their parents gather here to help them find a mate,and their femininity is fully reflected in the body and concept of their parents and children.Therefore,starting from the female temperament presented in the dating corner,the author studies the characteristics of The Times of female temperament and the conflict between subjects,and discusses the causes of contemporary women’s marriage and love difficulties through this window.From the perspective of constructivism and based on Butler’s gender performance theory,this study adopts the qualitative research method to interview the participants in Nanjing X Park Dating Corner.Through interviews with 25 participants in the dating corner,this paper finds that there are several conflicts in cognition of femininity among different subjects,including women’s initiative or passivity,dependence or dominance,openness or conservatism,rationality or sensibility,duty or willfulness in the context of love and marriage.These conflicts are mainly caused by the difference of growing environment and cultural collision,the lag between self-cognition and social cognition,and the influence of social structure.Based on the current situation of dating Angle and the thought and behavior logic of parents and children,this paper analyzes the final direction of the contradiction,that is,the compromise of the two generations to the femininity,which forms the dynamic balance between the "enduring prosperity" of dating Angle and the diversity of femininity.The study found that in the dating corner,the femininity in the context of marriage and love is increasingly diversified,but also there is a contradiction between the definition and cognition of femininity,which is around the contemporary single female youth,forming a marriage and love dilemma with femininity as the main line.This appeals to the "mutual integration" and freedom of the temperament of both sexes.
