In the context of economic globalisation,information technology and diversification,the requirements of society for talents have also changed.Society needs people with comprehensive practical skills and innovative thinking.A well-rounded person with good overall qualities can only adapt to the needs of social development.The current process of teaching reform continues to advance,and the new curriculum reform emphasises the importance of interdisciplinary subject learning,"literacy orientation","integrated learning","subject practice" "contextualised teaching" and so on all require the construction of interdisciplinary thematic courses.There are some problems with traditional teaching: too much emphasis is placed on the acquisition of knowledge and skills at the expense of the overall development of the student,whereas interdisciplinary learning promotes multidisciplinary learning and aims to develop growth thinking,critical thinking and social thinking.Creative and social thinking not only make up for the lack of teaching in the current physical education curriculum,but also contribute to the development of students’ core literacies.In this study,using the literature method,questionnaires,interviews,action research,mathematical and statistical methods,the Through action research,iterative experiments and continuous reflections on the designed cross-curricular theme programme,the study has come up with a cross-curricular theme programme for junior high school PE that has good teaching effects and can significantly enhance students’ interest in learning PE,affective performance and badminton serving skills.The following conclusions and recommendations were drawn: the practical application of the interdisciplinary theme programme designed on the basis of interdisciplinary theory proved that the interdisciplinary theme based on the interdisciplinary concept was effective in enhancing students’ interest in learning badminton skills,affective cooperation awareness and badminton serve skills,indicating the effectiveness of the interdisciplinary theme based on the interdisciplinary concept.The content of the interdisciplinary themes is based on what students have already learnt in other subjects and is relevant to their lives.Students find the interdisciplinary themes useful when they follow the teacher’s ideas to solve real-life problems.Students feel a special sense of achievement when they apply their knowledge of other subjects to solve problems in interdisciplinary thematic learning.This suggests that interdisciplinary themes based on interdisciplinary ideas are feasible.When designing interdisciplinary themes for PE,it is important to analyse the characteristics of the subject and consider whether the knowledge of the chosen subject can be integrated naturally and easily into PE,and to tailor the design to the age stage and physical and mental development of the student subjects being taught.Teachers should be aware of the problems that arise for students when implementing interdisciplinary themes in PE and make targeted changes at the end of the implementation based on expert advice,so it is recommended that the implementation of interdisciplinary cases in PE should be altered to take account of the actual delivery of the lesson.
