Academic achievement,as the most direct form of reflection of high school students’ learning situation,is increasingly valued by parents,teachers,schools and even the society.A growth mindset is a mindset that is different from a fixed mindset.People with a growth mindset believe that one’s intelligence,talents and strengths can be developed and enhanced through one’s own unremitting efforts.This mindset can lead individuals to love learning and show more resilience.This study adopts the questionnaire method to explore the influence of growth mindset on academic achievement of high school students,and further investigates the mediating role of grit and the moderating role of learning atmosphere in this influence process,so as to reveal the internal mechanism of the influence of growth mindset on academic achievement of high school students.In this study,832 students from a high school in Hebei Province were selected as the research objects.The Growth mindset Scale,Academic Achievement Scale,Persistence Quality Scale and School Climate Scale,which were revised by Chinese psychologists and widely used in high school students,were adopted as the research tools.After multiple statistical methods using SPSS23.0,the following results were obtained:1.The growth mindset of high school students is at the middle level,and the academic achievement,perseverance and school atmosphere perception are all above the middle level.There were significant differences in demographic variables,such as origin,only child,class cadre experience and parental education level.2.Growth mindset in high school students positively predicts academic achievement,that is,the higher the growth mindset level of high school students,the higher their academic achievement.3.Grit plays a partial mediating role in the influence of high school students’ growth mindset on academic achievement,which is specifically manifested as: high school students’ growth mindset has a positive effect on grit,and through grit,academic achievement can be improved.4.School atmosphere plays a moderating role in the influence of growth mindset on academic achievement of high school students,mainly manifested as school atmosphere positively moderates the influence of growth mindset on academic achievement of high school students,that is,compared with high school students who perceive negative school atmosphere,growth mindset has a more significant impact on the academic achievement of high school students who perceive positive school atmosphere.The above results show that high school students’ growth mindset will affect their academic achievement by influencing grit level,and high school students who perceive different school atmospheres have different effects on their growth mindset on academic achievement.Based on the above conclusions,this study believes that we can improve the academic achievement of high school students from the perspective of cultivating growth mindset and persistent personality. |
