In recent years, community governance has continuously become a hot topic of social development.Advocating that communities, social organizations, residents and other subjects can join community construction spontaneously and voluntarily is conducive to improving the social governance system, mobilizing all forces to improve the level of social governance, and creating a community governance community. The participation of residents is an important part of community governance, which is related to the results of grassroots community governance in China.Residents’ participation is reflected in all aspects of the community, including political, economic, social and cultural fields. However,in concrete practice, residents’ participation often faces many problems, and social capital can play an important role in integrating resources and improving governance efficiency in the process of residents’ participation. Therefore, social capital is often used to explain community resident participation. This paper takes the HY community in Jingzhou City as the main subject of study, and with the help of social capital theory,we sort out the current situation of research on social capital and resident participation at home and abroad through relevant literature, clarify the connection between the two,and elucidate the causal relationship between social capital and resident participation. In the empirical analysis section, the data collected and interviews with staff and residents of HY communities were combined to understand the current basic situation of HY communities, the situation of community social capital and the profile of residents’ participation. After that, descriptive statistics and regression analysis were conducted using SPSS statistical software to investigate the specific mechanisms of social capital in different dimensions on residents’ participation, and to confirm the causal relationship between social capital and residents’ participation.Based on the above studies, the following conclusions are drawn: First, the stock of social capital in the community needs to be improved.Second, residents’ participation is not optimistic, and there are dilemmas in the areas of participation, willingness, ways, organization, and effectiveness.Third, different dimensions of community social capital have positive effects on residents’ participation, and the effects of network capital and normative capital are more significant than those of trust capital. Finally, combining the professional advantages of social work, three major elements of revitalizing community social capital are concluded as effective strategies to promote community residents’ participation. |
