"Empty-nest youth" is a concept derived from "empty-nest elderly",which generally refers to young people who leave their hometown and relatives,go to big cities to work hard, and live alone in rented houses.Living alone, they have a narrow social circle, lack effective emotional support, and often face pressure from life and work.It is easy for them to feel lonely and anxious for a long time.Moderate loneliness usually does not affect an individual’s daily work and life, but long-term or severe loneliness can affect an individual’s physical and mental health, even triggering some serious emotional disorders, leading to extreme behaviors that harm themselves or others. As an important force in urban construction and economic development,"empty-nest youth" is of great practical significance to pay attention to their physical and mental health and relieving their loneliness. Therefore, this study will adopt casework approach, with the client as the center,to help clients alleviate their loneliness. This research takes "empty-nest youth" L as the client, based on cognitive behavior theory and strength perspective theory, using interview method and observation method to collect all aspects of the client’s data, according to the client’s actual needs and objective conditions,A targeted case intervention plan was formulated for him,and a total of 10 formal interventions and several telephone interviews were carried out. After evaluation, this casework helped the client enhance his self-confidence,adjust his daily routine and diet, develop his interests and hobbies, and improve his social support network.Ultimately, the client’s sense of loneliness was effectively alleviated. Finally,I summarized and reflected on this case work, and put forward reasonable suggestions,in order to provide reference for future research on alleviating "empty-nest youth" loneliness.
