The quality of homework is related to the quality of education and teaching,and the ability of teacher’s homework design directly affects the quality of homework,and then affects the quality of teaching,which is particularly important.Teachers’ homework design ability has been mentioned many times in the relevant documents of the education department,and has increasingly been highly valued by schools and teachers.It has become the core topic in the context of "double reduction"(Opinions on Further Reducing the Students’ homework burden and Off-school Training burden in the compulsory education stage,referred to as "double reduction")."Double reduction" clearly puts forward "improving the quality of homework design",which puts forward new requirements for teachers’ homework design ability.Therefore,it is of great significance to understand the current situation of primary school teachers’ homework design ability,find out the existing deficiencies,explore the influencing factors of primary school teachers’ homework design ability,and propose strategies to improve primary school teachers’ homework design ability.This study mainly uses questionnaire survey and interview methods to investigate and study the homework design ability of primary school teachers,aiming to answer the two questions of "current situation of homework design ability of primary school teachers" and "influencing factors of homework design ability of primary school teachers".With the support of relevant literature and theoretical foundations,a "Questionnaire on Homework Design Ability of Primary School Teachers" was developed.Through project analysis and factor analysis,a questionnaire survey was conducted on 208 primary school teachers,and interviews were conducted on 9 primary school teachers.The main research results are as follows:(1)The overall performance of primary school teachers in homework design is good,at an above average level.Among them,they have good traits,self-concept,and skills,but lack knowledge and motivation,and there is some room for improvement.In the comparison of group differences,it was found that there was no significant difference in homework design ability among primary school teachers of different genders,teaching years,disciplines,and grades,but there were significant differences in age,education level,whether they graduated from normal school,professional title,teaching area,and position.(2)In terms of the influencing factors of primary school teachers’ homework design ability,the external environment,pre service learning,post service practice,and in-service education all have a significant impact on the improvement of primary school teachers’ homework design ability.Overall,post employment practice and in-service education have a significant impact on the homework design ability of primary school teachers.In the comparison of group differences,it was found that there were no significant differences in gender,age,teaching experience,educational background,whether graduated from a teacher training major,professional title,subject,or position,but there were significant differences in grade and teaching area.(3)Based on the analysis of the questionnaire and interview results of primary school teachers’ homework design ability and its influencing factors,this study proposes strategies for improving primary school teachers’ homework design ability from four aspects: external environment,pre job learning,post job practice,and in-service education: reducing the burden on teachers,creating a positive atmosphere for assignment design;Improve the assessment mechanism to help improve the ability of assignment design;Strengthen pre-service learning and add courses related to assignment design;Strengthen autonomous learning and promote the development of assignment design ability;Optimize teaching and research methods and improve the quality of assignment design ability.
