Maurice Merleau-Ponty,a famous French philosopher and thinker in the 20 th century,is one of the representative figures of existentialism philosophy.His philosophical work "Phenomenology of Perception" and Sartre’s philosophical work "Existence and Nothingness" are collectively referred to as the "pioneering works" of phenomenology.In the process of exploring the relationship between consciousness and nature,he proposed phenomenology of the body,and the body education ideas extended from it had a profound impact on that time and future generations.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,this article mainly conducts a systematic study of Merleau Ponty’s body education ideas from four aspects,as follows:The first part mainly clarifies the historical background and theoretical basis of the formation of Merleau Ponty’s body education ideology.Clarified the era background of Merleau Ponty from economic,political,cultural and other aspects,and pointed out that the body at that time was a state of oppression,pain,and confrontation,and its value and significance were not valued.On this basis,a detailed analysis is conducted on the philosophical basis of the body formed by Merleau Ponty’s body education ideology from the perspectives of ideological origin,connotation,and characteristics.The second part systematically summarizes the main content of Merleau Ponty’s body education thought.Firstly,establish a holistic education concept of physical and mental integration,and elaborate on the inherent meaning of physical education;Secondly,the educational activity view of the body subject is discussed,which achieves the embodiment of knowledge in educational activities through the body schema of knowing the body;Once again,transforming from conscious language to body language to grasp educational discourse;Repeatedly,based on the inter body sex,discuss the teacher-student view of harmonious encounters;Finally,starting from the flesh of the world,discuss the path of educational practice.The third part objectively evaluates Merleau Ponty’s body education ideology.Pointing out that Merleau Ponty’s educational ideology takes the "body" as the starting point,emphasizing the educational purpose of harmonious development of body and mind;Clarify the value of body language in teaching;Emphasizing the generative educational process;Constructing an experiential teaching model;However,there are still some shortcomings in Merleau Ponty’s body education thought: Merleau Ponty’s body education has high requirements for the environment and teachers,and it is not easy to achieve true body education;In addition,Merleau Ponty was unable to escape the dilemma of consciousness philosophy,and physical education had a personal tendency.The fourth part delves into the contemporary educational value of Merleau Ponty’s body education ideology.Merleau Ponty’s body education emphasizes the body,based on the body,meets the world,promotes the liberation of the body subject,harmoniously meets teachers and students,and grows together.There are several aspects of inspiration and reference significance for contemporary education: firstly,establish an educational concept of integrating body and mind;Secondly,liberating students’ physical subjectivity;Thirdly,emphasizing the teaching process of active experience;Fourthly,advocating the teaching method of body language;Fifth,build a harmonious teacherstudent relationship.
