| As the population ages, the number of widowed elderly women in rural areas is gradually increasing, which also raises many social problems. The loss of a spouse can be very devastating for older women,as men are the spiritual pillars of the family, and most older women suffer from chronic diseases. The loss of a spouse can be mentally, psychologically, and physically damaging if accompanied by prolonged grief, and some bereaved spouses may become suicidal.Older women who are widowed are themselves a vulnerable group of the elderly and a group of greater concern to society. In this paper, firstly,we investigated 10 bereaved elderly women through interviews and observations, and through in-depth understanding,I analyzed the current situation of rural bereaved elderly women and the factors affecting the grief of rural bereaved elderly women;secondly,we selected two bereaved elderly women with different situations from the 10 respondents as the research subjects, and communicated with and understood the caseworkers themselves and their friends and relatives to ensure the authenticity of the information and situation.Secondly, the two bereaved elderly women were selected from among the 10 respondents to be the subjects of the study, and communication and understanding were conducted with the clients themselves and their friends and relatives to ensure the authenticity of the information and situation, and the author designed targeted intervention methods for the clients in different situations. The study found that, first,by comparing the service process of the two caseworkers,it was found that there were differences between the two clients in terms of life stress, emotions, and the use of theories and methods.Second, using the social worker’s method to serve the clients would bring different effects from other professional grief counseling, which could alleviate the grief emotions;enhance the self-confidence of the clients and improve the psychological problems;expand the social support network and enhance the social support;and gradually get out of the bereavement grief and get rid of the difficulties brought by the bereavement.Third,in this study, whether or not the client experienced a terminal period was a key factor affecting the level of grief. The level of grief of clients who experienced a terminal period was much lower and less intense than sudden bereavement, and they were relatively better able to control the situation when conducting services. |
