| Casting a firm consciousness of the Chinese national community is the "outline" of the Party’s ethnic work in the new era,and all work should be focused on it.School education work should also focus on casting a firm consciousness of the Chinese national community.As an instrumental and humanistic subject,language has the unique advantage and nurturing value of forging a consciousness of Chinese national community,and language teaching materials provide an important implementation vehicle for forging a consciousness of Chinese national community.Therefore,casting a firm consciousness of the Chinese national community in the elementary school language curriculum is important for cultivating students’ national emotions,strengthening national identity,and promoting the unity of all ethnic groups.In this study,we use the text analysis method to statistically analyze the content of the Chinese national community consciousness presented in the textbooks and form the textbook analysis framework with the four main sections of communication identity,cultural identity,political identity,and historical identity.The study found that the content of primary school language textbooks is mainly characterized by the following features: the content is set following students’ cognitive development,the educational content is rich and comprehensive,and the combination of explicit and invisible knowledge is emphasized,but there are still problems of uneven distribution of the content in each section and the content involving minority cultures is relatively small.Secondly,this study also investigated the current situation of casting a firm awareness of the Chinese national community in elementary school language teaching by taking the fourth and fifth-grade students and language teachers in an elementary school in Wuhan as the research subjects.The main problems found in this study are: teachers’ knowledge base of Chinese national community awareness needs to be improved,teachers’ teaching strength of Chinese national community awareness is difficult to grasp,teachers’ objectives of Chinese national community awareness are not set,teachers’ text resources of Chinese national community awareness are difficult to integrate,and teachers’ evaluation subjects of Chinese national community awareness are not diversified.In response to the above problems,this study proposes optimized strategies for casting a firm consciousness of the Chinese national community in elementary school language teaching from three main points: first,strengthening thematic training and curriculum development to enhance teachers’ consciousness of the Chinese national community,including conducting thematic training to deepen the consciousness of casting;developing school-based curriculum to strengthen the action of casting.Second,focus on teaching boards and extra-curricular links to integrate resources for Chinese national community consciousness,including sorting out textbook texts to form resource lists;focusing on key units to promote resource integration;and expanding extra-curricular links to strengthen national identity.Third,expand the ways and teaching space to enhance the effectiveness of casting a consciousness of the Chinese national community,including exploring hidden resources to enhance teaching interest;creating authentic situations to broaden teaching space;extending extra-curricular activities to strengthen cultural communication;and incorporating multiple subjects to enrich assessment channels. |
