With the vigorous development of the digital economy, digital technology and data elements have penetrated deeply into every link of social and economic activities, leading the network sharing, intensive integration, collaborative development and efficient utilization of resource elements, and becoming a new path for the market-oriented allocation reform of factors. As the most active factor of production in economic activities, labor force has been affected by institutional factors and incomplete market-oriented systems, and there has been a problem of factor mismatch. How to alleviate labor mismatch and optimize the allocation of labor resources in China has become an important issue.Among the existing studies on the allocation of labor resources, there are few systematic studies between the digital economy and labor mismatch.Based on this, this article studies the impact of the digital economy on labor mismatch and its mechanism,in order to provide a reference basis for improving labor mismatch in the context of the digital economy. This paper first theoretically analyzes the mechanism of digital economy to labor mismatch from four aspects of alleviating "information friction",constructing "platform employment",strengthening "factor competition",and reshaping "supply and demand relationship".Secondly, based on the data of 265 prefecture-level cities in China from 2012 to 2020,the digital economy development index and labor mismatch index are calculated, and the development status is analyzed. Then,we empirically examine the impact and mechanism of digital economy on labor mismatch.Subsequently, the heterogeneity analysis is conducted from the perspectives of regional distribution and urban scale. Finally, the spatial spillover effect of the digital economy on labor mismatch is further analyzed. The research results show that the development of digital economy has significantly improved labor mismatch in China. The correction effect of digital economy on labor mismatch in the eastern region is greater than that in the central region, while the impact is not significant in the western region. The digital economy has a significant improvement effect on labor mismatch in large cities, but its impact on small and medium-sized cities is not significant. In addition, although the digital economy has effectively improved the labor mismatch in this region,it will exacerbate the labor mismatch in neighboring regions.Based on the above research, this paper provides relevant policy suggestions for further promoting the high-quality development of the digital economy and guiding the effective allocation of labor factors in a reasonable and orderly manner under the background of the new era.
