Writing ability is the synthesis of students’ Chinese literacy and the essential core ability for students’ lifelong development.The foundation of primary Chinese determines that primary Chinese writing plays a foundational role in the development of students’ writing ability.Meanwhile,the curriculum standards and textbooks attach great importance to writing teaching.But in the actual teaching,writing teaching has not been placed on a vital position in primary school.Unit holistic view is an important way to improve current writing teaching.Writing teaching under the unit holistic view can not only help teachers really understand textbooks,establish a scientific and effective writing training system,but also help teachers better understand the sequence of students’ writing ability development.Only on the premise of truly understanding students and textbooks,can teachers effectively carry out writing teaching and cultivate students’ writing ability in a serialized way.The study adopted qualitative research methods,and data collection methods included content analysis,questionnaire,interviews and lesson analysis.Frist of all,teachers and students from Grade three to Grade six were selected for questionnaire and interview survey to understand the general situation of writing teaching.The survey found that most students had a good writing attitude and teachers paid great attention to the instruction of writing strategies.According to the result of the survey,the key writing difficulties faced by students of different grades were summarized,which provided the real studying present condition for the subsequent lesson analysis.However,it was also found that most teachers lacked the awareness of holistic unit teaching.In response to the problems found in the survey,four writing lessons from Grade three to Grade six were selected and analyzed from the perspective of unit holistic view.Through the lesson analysis of excellent writing teaching,it found that all four teachers related writing knowledge inside and outside the unit,which reflected their unit holistic teaching awareness.Students had enough writing time as well,so that their writing ability could be improved in practice.To sum up,the study investigated the general situation of writing teaching firstly,and then analyzed four writing lessons from the perspective of holistic unit,in an attempt to provide suggestions for teachers to carry out holistic unit writing teaching.Teachers should determine the goal of writing teaching according to students’ writing level and grasp the teaching material as a whole.On this basis,teaching activities should be designed in line with the writing teaching objectives and related other contents within the unit.And then students should have enough writing time in writing class,and adopt a variety of ways to evaluate and revise their compositions,so as to improve their writing ability.
