| The biological core competencies in high school are related to the cultivation of students’ ability.However,the abstract knowledge of high school makes it difficult for students to understand it so that it is more difficult to implement the cultivation of students’ ability.The triple representation brings new ideas to the teaching of biology.The triple representation refers to macroscopic representation,microscopic representation and symbolic representation,as well as the in-depth combination of the three.By using interview survey,questionnaire survey,statistical analysis and other methods,this research deeply analyzes the theory of triple representation and constructs the Triple Representation Teaching Model,Subsequently,the teaching model is applied in high school biology for analysis and practice.The triple representation involves external representation and internal representation.The external representation refers to the presentation of knowledge itself,while the internal representation refers to the presentation of external representation in students’ minds.The external representation can be transformed into internal representation by teachers’ teaching and students’ internalization,and the final transfer points to students’ problem-solving ability,which is a cognitive chain of triple representation.On the basis of the triple representation connotation and the triple representation cognitive chain,from the aspects of constituent elements and implementation principles,the Triple Representation Teaching Model is constructed.The new course adopts the teaching process of “creating situation → learning objective → macroscopic introduction →microscopic analysis → symbolic expression → induction and summary → ability improvement” and the review course adopts the teaching process of “creating situation→learning objective→symbolic representation→microscopic interpretation→macroscopic verification→induction and summary→ability improvement”.There are also three levels of triple representation in biology.Biological macro representation means that macro phenomena are recorded and presented in the brain in the biological category.Biological microscopic representation refers to the recording and presentation of knowledge content in the brain such as microstructure,microscopic movement and so on.Biological symbol representation refers to the representation in the brain of the reaction formula,the structural formula of the substance,the change curve symbol,etc.The three levels of representation reflect biological knowledge in their own way and form a colorful biological world in the mind.Then the chapters suitable for using the Triple Representation Teaching Model in the compulsory textbooks are sorted out,and the feasibility of applying the Triple Representation Teaching Model to biology teaching in high school is analyzed from the core quality and teaching means.Two homogeneous first-year classes of a high school in Henan Province were selected for a semester of teaching practice.The results were as follows:(1)The mean value of the questionnaire on biological problem solving ability of students in the experimental class was significantly higher at 0.05 level than that in the control class(p value is 0.023).Specific analysis shows that the mean values of the two classes in the dimension of attitude towards biological problems were significantly different at the level of 0.01(p value is 0.004).The mean value of the strategic dimension of dealing with biological problems was significantly different between the two classes at 0.01 level(p value is 0.006).There was no significant difference between the experimental class and the control class in the quality dimension of biological problem solving.(2)There was no significant difference between experimental class and control class.The above data shows that in the short term,the Triple Representation Teaching Model can significantly improve students’ biological problem solving ability from the two aspects of students’ attitude and strategies.However,it has no significant effect on students’ academic performance in the short term.Through application analysis and teaching practice,it is found that the Triple Representation Teaching Model is feasible in practice and can be used in biology teaching in senior high school.Different class types apply different processes of the Triple Representation Teaching Model.The new teaching of the triple representation applies the teaching process of “macroscopic introduction → microscopic analysis →symbolic expression”,and the review course of the triple representation applies the teaching process of “symbolic representation→microscopic interpretation→macroscopic verification”.It is hoped that there will be a longer period in the future to explore the influence of the triple representation teaching mode on the quality of students’ biological problem solving ability or other aspects. |
