In recent years,the lack of proper exercise has led to a gradual decline in the physical fitness of young people,a phenomenon that is a source of great concern.With the government’s increasing concern for the physical and mental health of young people,the scores of the secondary school physical education examination,which is an important way to measure and assess the physical fitness of secondary school students,have been raised.in the autumn of 2021,the Henan Provincial Department of Education launched the Henan Secondary School Physical Education Examination Reform Programmed,which aims to improve the physical fitness and motor skills of junior high school students and to better meet their sporting needs.A field trip to eight junior high schools in Macun District,Jiaozuo City,revealed changes in junior high school students’ in-school physical education activities.It is therefore important to explore in depth the impact of this reform on the physical activity of junior high school students.This paper uses a variety of research methods,including literature,questionnaires,mathematical statistics,fieldwork and interviews,to investigate and analyse the impact of the reform of the secondary school physical education examination system in Henan Province 2021 on the teaching of physical education teachers and the physical activity of junior high school students in eight junior high schools in Macun District,Jiaozuo City,as well as the changes in the attitudes of physical education teachers and junior high school students.The author found that physical education teachers and junior high school students in junior high schools in Macun District were deeply affected by the physical education reform policy and found some problems from it.Based on these problems,the author puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions to promote more scientific and effective participation of junior high school students in school physical activities in Macun District after the reform of the Chinese physical education system.1.Two major changes have taken place after the reform of physical education in the Chinese examination in Macun District,Jiaozuo City,one is the increase of 30 points in the physical education examination and the other is the increase of process evaluation in the physical education examination items.These two changes have led to an increase in the workload of physical education teachers,which has not only put a certain amount of pressure on them to teach,but also raised their teaching status.2.The reform of physical education in the middle school examination in Macun District of Jiaozuo City has had a great impact on the teaching objectives and contents of physical education teachers in schools,resulting in the setting of teaching objectives and the arrangement of teaching contents of middle school physical education teachers being more biased towards the contents of physical education in the middle school examination,resulting in the development of physical education in schools in the direction of exam-oriented education and hindering the diversified development of physical education teaching in middle school.3.The increase in the score of physical education reform in the middle school examination in Macun District of Jiaozuo City has increased the pressure on junior high school students,along with the increase in the score of physical education has brought about a great impact on the learning of other subjects as well.Most junior high school students support the increase in PE test scores and attach great importance to PE results.4.The number of times and the amount of time that most junior high school students participated in physical education in school each week increased significantly after the increase in the score of the PE reform in the secondary school examination in Macun District,Jiaozuo City.Because of the increase in process evaluation of physical education in the Chinese examination,the phenomenon of physical education classes being occupied by teachers of other subjects has been significantly reduced.5.The most intuitive manifestation of the positive effects brought about by the reform of physical education in the secondary school examination in Macun District,Jiaozuo City,is the increase in junior high school students’ motivation to participate in physical education and sport.The majority of junior high school students indicated that the main focus of physical education activities in school was on the content of the secondary school physical education examination,with the aim of improving their physical education scores.This indicates that junior high school students only attach importance to examination results and neglect the recreational,physical fitness and other functions brought about by participation in physical activity,resulting in a clear and single purpose for junior high school students’ physical activity.However,there are still a few junior high schools that do not have enough land for physical education and sports equipment due to their special geographical location and school funding,especially the lack of sports fields and sports equipment that are not related to the secondary school examinations,which affects the diversification of sports for junior high school students.
