| The trend of adolescent suicide incidents is showing signs of becoming younger,and suicidal ideation is a crucial predictor in preventing suicide.According to ecological system theory,both family and school play essential roles in students’ healthy development.Family relationships serve as a vital source of social support for primary school students.Considering the complexity of family conflict,In this study,family conflict was divided into parent-child conflict and parent conflict.Furthermore,the theory of self-determination indicates that the unmet need for relationships is most closely related to suicidal ideation.During childhood and adolescence,poor peer relationships and bullying at school are significant risk factors for suicidal ideation.In terms of personal factors,students’ problematic behaviors are external performance of poor adaptation and also essential indicators of mental health.Therefore,this study introduces the roles of bullying and problematic behavior in the relationship between family conflict and suicidal ideation.This study conducted a questionnaire survey on students in grades 4-6 in Sichuan and Shanxi provinces,using the Adolescents’ Suicidal Ideation Scale,the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire,the Parent-Child Conflict Scale,the Parental Conflict Scale,and the Child and Adolescent Bullying Scale.A total of 750 questionnaires were collected,of which 738 contained valid data.The statistical analysis of the data yielded the following results:(1)Bullying,parental conflict,parent-child conflict,and personal problematic behaviors are positively correlated with upper-grade primary school students’ suicidal ideation.(2)Parental conflict and parent-child conflict positively affect uppergrade primary school students’ suicidal ideation.(3)Parental conflict and parent-child conflict influence suicidal ideation through the separate mediation of bullying at school.(4)Parental conflict and parent-child conflict affect suicidal ideation through the separate mediation of personal problematic behaviors.(5)Parental conflict and parent-child conflict affect suicidal ideation through the chain mediation of bullying and problematic behaviors.The following educational strategies are proposed:(1)Building good family relationships to reduce suicidal ideation.Both parent-child and marital relationships should be emphasized.Parents and children should be trained in good interpersonal communication methods to alleviate parent-child and parental conflicts in a timely manner and create a healthy family atmosphere.(2)Establish a campus protection system to ensure students’ growth.Improve students’ psychological files,expand family support dimensions,utilize peer assistance to perfect the "help from others-self-help-mutual help" model,and enhance students’ mental health.For students with suicidal ideation,professional psychological interventions should be carried out with psychological teachers as leaders,class teachers as mainstays,and professional institutions as support.(3)Improve the development environment to enhance the level of mental health.Carry out tripartite cooperation among families,schools,and communities to provide sufficient support for children’s healthy growth and reduce suicidal ideation. |
