| Spatial concept is one of the core literacies of mathematics cultivation in primary schools. The cultivation of spatial concept adapts to the needs of students’ core literacy development.PBL theory emphasizes student-centered,teacher-led,and improves problem-solving ability through students’ independent exploration and group cooperation to solve problems in real situations.Cultivating spatial concepts based on PBL theory conforms to the characteristics and laws of students’ thinking development, and is conducive to changing the teaching status of teachers. In order to understand the development and cultivation status of the fifth-grade students’ spatial concept, the research focuses on the following three core issues: 1.What is the level of spatial concept development of the fifth-grade-students? What are the features? 2.What problems do teachers have in the process of cultivating students’ spatial concepts? 3.How can teachers use PBL to guide the cultivation of students’ spatial concepts? In order to explore the above three questions, study analyzed the content of spatial concept in curriculum standard and the content of the fifth grade in PEP textbook, the fifth-grade students in a primary school in Xiamen,Fujian Province were selected as samples to test the development level of spatial concept, and the teachers were interviewed about the cultivation of spatial concept. In addition, the study also selected the fifth grade Use Number Pairs to Determine Position and Area of Combined Graphics in People’s Education Press for classroom teaching observation. It is found that the development of spatial concept of fifth-grade students is preferable, students can grasp the spatial position relationship, but abstract thinking and transformation ability need to be improved, and when students’ spatial thinking is lacking, they prefer to use auxiliary methods such as practice.Teachers have a certain degree of understanding of spatial concepts and have their own opinions on their training methods, but there are also some problems in the cultivation of spatial concepts. The problems mainly cover four aspects:teachers’ insufficient cognition of students’ psychological characteristics, teachers’ improper use of teaching materials, teachers’ classroom teaching level and professional development level need to be improved.Based on this, the study combined with PBL theory puts forward four solutions: teachers’ teaching should be based on the characteristics of children’s psychological development, should combine the content of teaching materials with the actual situation of students, and need to highlight the essence of problems in classroom practice,so as to cultivate high-quality innovative teachers. This study aims to improve the current situation of spatial concept cultivation of primary school students through PBL theory,so as to promote the development of students’ spatial thinking ability and problem-solving ability. |
