Gender Identity Of Adult Female Boxing Participants

Since its inception,boxing has been associated with words such as strength,bravery and savagery,so it has also been seen as a man’s sport,in which women have long been marginalized.The body is the material entity that human beings depend on in this world and the place where culture shapes.The body is not only the basis of sports,but also the most intuitive and innate difference between men and women,and the basis of female gender identity construction.Body identity is the link and bridge between female sports and gender construction,and provides a breakthrough point to explore the gender identity of female boxing participants.From the perspective of gender theory and embodied theory,this study explores the gender identity of adult women in boxing.It adopts the methods of questionnaire survey,mathematical statistics,semi-structured interview,SPSS statistical analysis software and Nvivo qualitative typing software.To investigate the gender identity,body identity and gender identity in boxing(i.e.cognition,attitude,behavior and emotional experience)of adult female boxing participants.A total of 144 adult female boxing participants aged 18-60 from Kunming City were investigated(Excluding female boxers in competitive sports).The gender identity of adult female boxing participants was studied by means of quantitative research and qualitative research.The main research conclusions are as follows:(1)There is a positive correlation between boxing "amount of exercise" and body identity of adult female boxing participants.(2)There are significant differences in the body identity of adult female boxing participants with different gender identities.(3)Adult women choose boxing as a physical practice based on their own body beauty standards.Boxing is a tool to realize their ideal body beauty standards and strengthen their body identity.(4)The physical beauty standard of adult female boxing participants will change with the growth of age and experience.(5)There are significant differences in the amount of boxing "exercise" of adult female boxing participants with different gender identities.(6)The more physical activity an adult female boxing had,the more her gender identity tended to be "intersex".
