Objective:Objectives of the study:At present,it has been proved that ball sports can effectively improve the degree of myopia progression and asthenopia. Therefore, this paper,on the basis of the existing research, explores the effect of ping-pong badminton sports on asthenopia.Taking high school students, the largest group of myopia in adolescents,as the experimental object, compares and analyzes the effect of ping-pang and badminton sports on asthenopia and visual acuity of adolescents. In order to find a practical and effective way to promote eye health.Methods:52 students without basic skills of table tennis or badminton were recruited from Shanghai Jinhui Senior High School and randomly divided into three groups:Group 1 was table tennis experimental group,Group 2 was badminton experimental group, and Group 3 was control group. The final effective subjects were 15 in each group, and the exercise intervention experiment conducted for eight weeks, twice a week.Group 1 and Group 2 received table tennis training and badminton training accordingly while the control group maintained normal physical education, without paritcular sports intervention. The ophthalmic indicators, uncorrected visual acuity(uncorrected visual acuity, uncorrected visual acuity,UCVA),Spherical mirror(Sdivhere,S),cylindrical mirror(Cylinder,C),equivalent spherical mirror(Diopter of Spherical power,SE),were examed after the intervention with the investigation of the Visual Fatigue Symptom Questionnaire and the International Physical Activity Scale IPAQ-L volume, and monitoring the heart rate during the weekly intervention.Results:(1)Groups 1,2,and 3 had significantly varied levels of asthenopia(P<0.01).Groups 1 and 2 did not significantly differ from one another. The findings indicated that, when compared to the control group, the ping-pong and badminton groups could slow the progression of asthenopia, with the ping-pong group having the most impact.(2)UCVA:Groups 1 and 2 showed statistically significant differences(P<0.05).In Group 3,the left eye showed a very significant difference(P<0.01),and the right eye showed a substantial difference(P<0.05).When the average difference is taken into account,it is clear that the ping-pang and badminton movements can significantly raise UCVA levels while significantly lowering UCVA in the control group. The differences between Groups 1,2,and 3 were insignificant.Although there was no discernible difference between Groups 1 and 2,the ping-pong impact was superior based on the average difference.(3)S:While there was no statistically significant difference between Groups 1 and 2,there was a very significant difference between Groups 3(P<0.01),indicating that Group 3 drop was greater than that of Group 1 and Group 2 prior to intervention. The two groups did not significantly differ from one another. The ping-pong effect was superior, and the degree of S drop in the ping-pang and badminton groups was slower than that in the control group, according to the average difference value.(4)C:There was no statistically significant difference between Groups 1 and 2,but there was a very significant difference in the left eye(P<0.01)and a significant difference in the right eye(P<0.05)in Group 3,indicating that the degree of decline was greater in Group 3 than it was in Groups 1 and 2.Except for the left eyes in Groups 1 and 3 and the right eyes in Groups 2 and 3,there was no difference between the two groups that was statistically significant(P<0.05).In addition to the average difference,it was discovered that the ping-pong effect was superior and that the C decline of the badminton and ping-pang groups was postponed in comparison to the control group.(5)SE:There was no statistically significant difference between Groups 1 and 2,but there was a highly significant difference between Groups 3(P<0.01),indicating that Group 3 drop was greater than that of Group 1 and 2 prior to the intervention. In Groups 1 and 3,there was no discernible difference in the right eye(P<0.05).The SE decline of the ping-pang and badminton groups was discovered to be slower than that of the control group when combined with the mean difference.Table tennis also has a better effect.Conclusions:(1)Teaching high school pupils the fundamentals of table tennis and badminton can significantly reduce their asthenopia, with table tennis having a better impact than badminton.(2)The skills learning of table tennis and badminton can delay the deterioration of visual acuity of myopic high school students, and the effect of table tennis is better than that of badminton.(3)The development of table tennis and badminton skills can effectively promote the development of the eye health of myopic high school students.
