| The rapid development of the information age also puts forward higher requirements for talent cultivation. The core of current education is to cultivate students’ innovative thinking and problem-solving abilities, making them versatile talents capable of adapting to the development of the times. In 2022,China released the "Information Technology Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2020 Edition)",in which the assessment of the academic level of information technology courses proposed to attach importance to the comprehensive assessment of students’ knowledge ability, skill level, and problem-solving ability. Therefore, problem solving ability is not only a necessary core accomplishment for students in the information age,but also a key ability that needs to be developed in the information technology discipline. However,at present, there are still some problems in cultivating students’ problem-solving abilities in information technology courses: for example, teachers focus on teaching fragmented skills and do not build real problem situations;Although teachers create problem situations, they do not allow students to experience every process of problem solving, and they are also just teaching core knowledge or skills. The STEM education concept is a relatively common integrated teaching concept that focuses on the comprehensive cultivation of students’ knowledge and skills. Its curriculum content emphasizes comprehensiveness, usually guided by problem situations, and conducted in a project-based manner, which is consistent with the goal of cultivating problem-solving abilities. Therefore, this study will design teaching activities to cultivate students’ problem-solving abilities based on the concept of STEM,and solve the problems existing in the cultivation of students’ problem-solving abilities in the current information technology discipline. This study mainly adopts the literature research method, action research method, and investigation research method, with action research as the main research method.Follow the basic steps of action research, and conduct research from the four links of "plan action observation reflection".At the beginning of the research, the author went to a middle school in Wuwei City and discovered the problems in the cultivation of problem-solving ability in the school through investigation and classroom observation; Then, based on the analysis of relevant literature on STEM education concepts and problem-solving abilities,an action plan for problem-solving was developed, and a teaching process for cultivating students’ problem-solving abilities based on STEM concepts was designed according to the specific situation of the practice object.According to the specific situation of the practice object, the teaching content and teaching evaluation were selected; Then, through three rounds of iterative practice, continuously solve the preset problems and emerging new problems until the problems existing in the cultivation of problem-solving ability are solved; Finally, through quantitative and qualitative data such as a comparison of pre and post problem solving ability measurement tables, interviews with students and teachers, and work evaluation tables,it is proved that teaching activities based on the STEM concept to cultivate students’ problem solving ability can indeed solve the problems existing in the cultivation of problem solving ability, thereby cultivating students’ problem solving ability. |
