| In recent years,the number of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities has gradually increased,along with the increase in the number of parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.National and local governments are paying more attention to the mental health of parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities at the policy level,communities,schools,and disability associations are paying more attention to the parenting stress of parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.Compared to parents of ordinary children,parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities are under greater parenting stress.Therefore,it is important to study the current situation of social support,resilience and parenting stress of parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities,the influencing factors and the relationship among the three for the development of mental health of parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.In order to alleviate the parenting stress of parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and enhance their development of resilience ability,using survey research method,279 questionnaires were distributed and collected,and eight parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities were selected from the questionnaire respondents for interviews,and the following conclusions were drawn: Parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities have a moderate to low level of parenting stress and a high level of psychological resilience;The parenting stress of parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities was significantly different in terms of parents’ employment status,children’s gender,children’s degree of impairment,children’s type of impairment,children’s age of diagnosis,and the presence of others to take care of the children;the resilience was significantly different in terms of children’s degree of impairment,type of impairment,and ranking at home;and the social support was significantly different in terms of parents’ employment status,type of family structure,and the presence of others to take care of the children;Social support partiallymediated the relationship between parenting stress and psychological resilience in parents ofchildren with intellectual and developmental disabilities;Although parents of children withintellectual and developmental disabilities were under some degree of parenting stress,theyactively used their own psychological resilience qualities and social support opportunities tobetter manage their parenting difficulties.Based on the above findings,this study proposes the following recommendations:increase financial support for families of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities,pay attention to family education intervention training services for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities,and strengthen publicity to relieve parents’ parenting stress;promote the establishment of family and friends associations for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities,pay attention to day care services for children with severe and very severe impairment to improve parents’ social support level;guide parents to establish a scientific and reasonable view of integrated education and improve the psychological service mechanism for parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities to enhance their psychological resilience. |
