Objective: Many studies have shown that sports can not only strengthen the body and improve the physical fitness of participants, but also improve their psychological quality, interpersonal skills, confidence and happiness of life. This study takes physical exercise as an independent variable, carries out exercise intervention experiment research for college students with mental health problems, explores the relationship between physical exercise and college students’ mental health, and makes physical exercise better serve the mental health work of college students.Method: In this paper, some students of Anhui Vocational and Technical College who are at high risk of mental health during enrollment screening are taken as experimental objects, and the research object is the exercise intervention’s influence on the mental health of college students, and the study uses the methods of expert interview, literature, experiment and questionnaire.Through 13 weeks of exercise intervention,By using SCL-9 0 mental health scale evaluates the mental health status of 82 subjects(40 members of the experimental group and 4 2 members of the control group)before the experiment and after the experiment. The influence of exercise intervention on college students’ mental health is analyzed and deduced by comparing the test data between experimental group and control group.Results:(1)Before the exercise intervention experiment, there was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the total average score of SCL-90 scale. The experimental group’s total average score was 166 points, and the total average control group’s score was 161.95 points. The mental health level between the experimental group and the control group had no significant difference before the experiment(P>0.05).After the exercise intervention experiment, the experimental group and the control group’ s total average score showed a large gap,The experimental group’s total average score was 124.73 points, and the control group’s total average was 149.40 points,a difference of2 4.67 points, the experimental group and the control group’s mental health level was significantly different(P<0.0 1).It shows that sports intervention has obvious effect on the mental health level of college students;(2)Before exercise intervention,9 people in the experimental group had an average score of more than 2 points, accounting for 22.5% of the total number; However, after participating in the exercise intervention experiment, only 4people scored more than 2 points, accounting for 10% of the total population. The average score decreased by 1 2.5 % after the exercise intervention experiment, and the intervention effect was good.(3)There was no significant change in the scores of terror factors between the experimental group and the control group after the exercise intervention experiment(P>0.05),indicating that there was no significant difference in the terror symptoms between the experimental group and the control group after the experiment, and the exercise intervention had no obvious effect on the improvement of psychological problems of terror symptoms;(4)The control group’s total score of SCL-90 had great difference after thirteen weeks college life(P<0.05),which indicated without exercise intervention, the control group’s mental health level was also significantly improved after 13 weeks, with the total mean score of 161.95 before the experiment and 149.40 after the experiment, the total mean score decreased by 12.55 points. The possible reason is that after 13 weeks’ adjustment to college life, team psychological counseling and counselors’ care and other factors also promote the positive development of college students’ mental health.Conclusion:(1)The mental health level of college students after sports intervention is generally higher than that before sports intervention, and sports intervention plays a positive role in promoting the mental health of college students.(2)college students’ mental health problems are mainly manifested in obsessive-compulsive factors, interpersonal sensitive factors, anxiety factors, individual college students have a more serious tendency to force factors.(3)After the exercise intervention experiment, except for the compulsion factor, the other nine factors of college students were all within the normal range, indicating that the exercise intervention had a good effect.(4)The effect of exercise intervention on the mental health factors of college students is different.Exercise intervention has obvious improvement effect on obsessive-compulsive symptoms, interpersonal sensitivity, anxiety symptoms and depression symptoms, while the influence on somatization factors is minimal.(5)The mental health level of college freshmen who did not participate in sports intervention also showed a trend of improvement with the adjustment of living and learning environment and participation in team counseling, but the improvement effect was not as good as that of college students who participated in sports intervention.(6)The mental health problems of college students show an increasingly serious trend.According to the questionnaire survey, these college students with mental health problems are more inactive, addicted to electronic products, exercise time limited.
