Since the reform and opening up,China has maintained rapid development and has formed a center full of vitality and concern around the world. However, the current international environment is not clear, and the impact of COVID-19 has led to a more complex development environment. It is difficult to support China’s sustainable, healthy and stable development by relying solely on investment and export oriented development mode, and it is an urgent task to tap domestic demand.Promoting new urbanization can not only promote consumption, but also help to improve domestic demand. It can also promote the gathering of technology, talent and capital, optimize the industrial structure, and promote the continuous development of the industry, thus becoming the key to promoting the sustainable and stable development of China’s economy. Therefore,it is particularly important to study the impact of new urbanization on China’s economic growth. This thesis studies the impact of new urbanization on China’s economic growth from two perspectives of direct impact and human capital as the threshold variable. From the perspective of human capital, the relationship between the two is discussed in depth, which provides strategies for promoting the development of new urbanization, achieving rapid economic development, and making better use of human capital to promote economic growth for the whole country and all regions in the process of promoting new urbanization, and provides new ideas and impetus for promoting the development of economic growth under the new normal. Therefore,It has strong practical significance.Based on the panel data of 29 provinces in China from 2006 to 2020,this thesis uses the panel regression model to study the impact of new urbanization on China’s economic growth. After sorting out relevant literature, concepts and theories, this thesis first analyzes the current development trend of China’s new urbanization, human capital and economic growth based on relevant data; Then,it analyzes the mechanism from two aspects: the impact of new urbanization on economic growth and the change of the impact path of human capital on the former, and puts forward reasonable research assumptions; Finally, the empirical analysis is carried out around the quantitative relationship of the impact of new urbanization on economic growth, from proposing the comprehensive index of new urbanization and measuring its index value,to exploring the specific impact direction and quantitative relationship of new urbanization on economic growth, and focusing on the analysis from the perspective of human capital in the process of impact.Through the empirical analysis of the impact of new urbanization on economic growth, this thesis finally draws the following four conclusions: through the calculation of the comprehensive index of new urbanization,we can find that the development level of new urbanization in China has obvious differences between different regions;By using the panel data model and based on the comprehensive index of new urbanization,it is finally found that the impact of new urbanization on economic growth shows a positive relationship. At the same time,in the regression analysis,it is also found that the industrial structure has a significant effect on economic growth. The larger the proportion of the tertiary industry, the more obvious the economic growth;Through the threshold variable effect test,it is found that human capital has an obvious threshold effect, which has a certain regulatory role in the process of participating in the impact. When the threshold value of human capital is greater than 5.7544,the estimated value of the coefficient of new urbanization is positive;By setting the employment quality as the intermediary variable of the new urbanization affecting economic growth to test the intermediary effect,it is found that the introduction of employment quality will lead to changes in the explanatory power of urbanization development on economic growth, indicating that there is an intermediary effect, and the employment quality has a positive effect on economic growth, indicating that the higher the employment quality, the better the economic growth.
