In the past 40 years of reform and opening up,China has grown into the world’s second-largest economy and created a remarkable development miracle. However, due to the market-oriented reform and the increasing opening to the outside world,as well as the implementation of the unbalanced development strategy during the period of accelerated economic development,a large number of production factors have gathered in developed cities, and the economic development gap between cities has been expanding. Therefore, the problem of unbalanced and uncoordinated regional economic development has become a fundamental challenge for China in the new era. Therefore, based on the data of 270 prefecture-level cities from 2007 to 2019,this paper empirically tests the relationship among producer service industry agglomeration, spatial allocation of labor factors and regional coordinated development by constructing a panel model and spatial Dubin model and uses the adjustment path model to verify the mediating effect of labor factor allocation. The main research contents and conclusions are as follows :Firstly, due to the various phases of agglomeration of producer services, its impact on the spatial allocation of labour factors and the coordinated development of the area could be different. Therefore, this paper constructs a non-linear model by adding the quadratic term of the core explanatory variable.By verifying the strong and weak relationship between the’siphon effect’ and the ’diffusion effect’ in the process of producer services agglomeration,it explores whether producer services agglomeration has a realistic ’inflexion point’ on the spatial allocation of labour factors and regional coordinated development. The results show a non-linear relationship between the agglomeration of producer services, the spatial allocation of labour factors and the coordinated development of regions. There are often spatial economic linkages based on industrial linkages between different cities, especially between neighbouring cities. In particular, the spatial flow of factors caused by the agglomeration of producer services also impacts the factor allocation and economic development of peripheral cities. Therefore, building on the foundation of a general two-way fixed model, this paper introduces the spatial dimension and further tests the ’spatial spillover effect’ of producer services aggregation by verifying the global and local Moran’s I index of variables and constructing the spatial Durbin model. The results show that the agglomeration of producer services has a non-linear spatial spillover effect on the spatial allocation of labour factors in ’neighbouring areas’ and their coordinated regional development, which verifies the enhancing effect of the agglomeration of producer services on the economic links between cities.Second, the spatial Durbin model examines the spatial correlation between the agglomeration of producer services and the spatial allocation of labour factors and the coordinated development of the region. Therefore,it is necessary to further analyse the spatial heterogeneity and industry homogeneity of the impact through the heterogeneity test. The regional heterogeneity test shows that the agglomeration of producer services in the eastern, central, western and northeastern regions exhibits a heterogeneous ’local-neighbourhood’ effect on the allocation of urban labour factors and regional coordinated development due to the different characteristics of the ’agglomeration effect’ and the ’diffusion effect’.The industry heterogeneity test shows that the agglomeration of high value-added supporting producer services has a stronger non-linear effect on the spatial allocation of labour factors and regional coordinated development than that of essential producer services.Thirdly, this paper constructs a moderating path model to test the mediating effect of the spatial allocation of labour factors in the agglomeration of producer services on regional coordinated development. The results show that in the non-linear relationship between the agglomeration of producer services and regional coordinated development, the spatial allocation of labour factors plays a mediating role. The supporting producer services are more likely to reverse the mismatch in the allocation of labour factors through the ’diffusion effect’and then strengthen the intermediary transmission path of ’agglomeration of producer services-allocation of labour factors-regional coordinated development’.According to the findings of the article, the paper finally proposes a targeted path for regional coordinated development:First,it is necessary to establish a cooperative and interactive,well-developed urban industrial layout, enhance the’radiation effect’of the central city on the peripheral urban economy, and build a sustainable development model for large, medium and small cities.Second,we should excavate the channels of factor flow, optimise the spatial allocation of labour factors by deepening the market-oriented reform of factors, and promote the optimisation of urban human capital structure by improving the efficiency of labour factor allocation,so as to stimulate the economic vitality of small and medium-sized cities.Third,we should actively explore the development law of production services in different regions and heterogeneous industries, formulate industrial development policies according to the situation, and actively explore practical ways to reduce the non-equalizing in economic development between regions and cities within regions.
