The English Curriculum Standards for Secondary Vocational Schools promulgated by the Ministry of Education clearly stipulates the learning requirements and overall academic quality requirements of vocational English, emphasizing that vocational English is for students’ professional English learning and future career development, and Tourism English is a vocational English course for tourism majors in secondary vocational schools, which is not only a high integration of tourism education and English education, but also one of the most basic It requires students to have the basic vocational skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in a foreign language, which are necessary for working in tourism services. However, the teaching effect in education is not satisfactory,so we explore the integration of scaffolding teaching into the Tourism English course to solve the problem of students not taking responsibility for learning,in order to improve the effectiveness of teaching.Through field research, combined with questionnaire survey method and interview method,we systematically grasp the current situation of teaching "Tourism English" course, summarize the problems in teaching, know through literature analysis that the scaffolding teaching method is in line with the inherent rules of students’ English learning, integrate the teaching objectives of "Tourism English" course based on "English Curriculum Standards for Secondary Vocational Education" and "Teaching Standards for Tour Guide Services in Secondary Vocational Schools(for Trial Implementation)".Relying on constructivist learning theory and nearest development zone theory,we optimize the teaching content, design the teaching process, study the five aspects of scaffolded teaching, and subsequently put the teaching design cases into practice. The study found that scaffolding teaching into the course of English for Tourism has a significant impact,by building scaffolding in students’ nearest developmental zone, dismantling complex tourism English knowledge into simple learning tasks presented to students, then stimulating students’ learning initiative and motivation with external motivation, and guiding students to take responsibility for learning through the form of responsibility transition, students can construct knowledge, internalize knowledge, and improve the knowledge validity. However, the variety of teaching scaffolds makes it difficult for teachers to choose, and they need to have complete knowledge of students’ learning and practice constantly so that the scaffolds built are the most compatible and effective for students. The thesis has five parts. The first part is the introduction, which introduces the background and significance of the study, the purpose and content of the study, the research method and ideas, and defines the core concept and theoretical basis of scaffolded teaching. The second part analyzes the current situation and problems of teaching English for Tourism course, analyzes students’ learning status and problems through questionnaires, analyzes teachers’ teaching status and problems through interviews with teachers, and lays the foundation for the subsequent teaching design. The third part constructs the teaching design of the middle-level "Tourism English" course with scaffolding teaching, which contains the integration of teaching objectives, teaching content design and teaching process design of "Tourism English" course. The fourth part implements the teaching design case. The fifth part is the conclusion and outlook.
