The Effect Of Rumor-Refuting Information On College Students’ Rumor Refutation Behavior:Based On Triadic Reciprocal Determinism

COVID-19 pandemic is the first as well as the most serious public health crisis all over the world since entering the 21 th century,which causes impossibly hard strike on every perspective of human life.The pandemic not only does harm to physical health,but also gives birth to rumors on the Internet,which confuses the public and makes them unable to know the situation of the epidemic.Except for misleading users with wrong pandemic prevention measures,online rumors may be risky for lives and lead to the crisis of social rules.World Health Organization calls it infodemic.In public health crisis such as COVID-19 pandemic,due to the tightness of social relations and anxiety of the public,rumors spread rapidly,leaving little room for true information.Therefore,in Internet period,how to restrict the spread of pandemic rumors,lower the impact of rumors on daily and emotions and lead the public to true and reliable information becomes an important task during the pandemic.The most effective to stop rumors from spreading is to refute rumors.As the main body Internet users in generation Z,college students deeply participate in information production and promotion,so they are more possible to take part in rumor refutation.Under such background,this research focuses on the rumor refutation of college students on Wechat platform and try to work out the influential elements from the perspective of individual and environment based on Social Cognitive Theory,as well as trying to find out the internal relations of these elements to provide some useful suggestions on encouraging users to take part in rumor refutation on the Internet.To realize the above goals,based on the analysis of information behavior and rumors,this research theoretically chooses information quality,self-efficacy,outcome expectation and cognitive dissonance as variables to set up research model aiming at rumor refutation.Practically,based on the study of present papers,this research creates research paper from the aspects of information and personal-consciousness.Through releasing research papers and using SPSS,this research analyses 462 papers to work out the effectiveness of hypothesis.This paper tests the hypothesis through empirical research,and works out the following results: 1.The information quality of rumor-refutation information positively influences the desire and behavior of sharing rumor-refutation information.2.Self-efficacy and outcome expectation play an meditating role between the information quality of rumor-refutation information and the desire of sharing rumor-refutation information.3.Self-efficacy and outcome expectation play an meditating role between the information quality of rumor-refutation information and the behavior of sharing rumor-refutation information.
