| The FIFA World Cup held once every four years is a collision of all kinds of technical and tactical playing styles in today’s football world.The attacking and defending styles of the participating teams in the World Cup represent a development trend of technical and tactical playing styles in today’s world football world.Domestic and foreign researches on offensive and defensive style mainly focus on the definition,school characteristics and competitive performance,but the selected indicators are relatively macro,and there are few studies on the relationship between offensive and defensive style and team performance.In this study,the attacking and defending styles of the teams in the21 st Men’s Football World Cup were divided by factor analysis according to the 19 indexes of possession rate,passing rate,recovering the ball and finishing attack.This paper provides some reference for the establishment of offensive and defensive styles of Chinese men’s football team,and hopes to explore the dominant offensive and defensive styles of this World Cup and the value of the indicators of offensive and defensive styles to the team results by dividing the offensive and defensive styles of this World Cup teams.The conclusions are as follows:1.Five factors were obtained from exploratory factor analysis.Factor 1 was named as transmission control in the forward direction and direct in the negative direction.The positive direction of factor 2 is named midfield prevention and control,and the negative direction is named backfield prevention and control.The positive direction of factor 3 was named as middle road prevention and control,and the negative direction was named as side road prevention and control.Factor 4 was named offensive strength;Factor 5 is named the mode of attack.2.According to the above classification and performance judgment basis,the classification characteristics and performance values of the attacking and defending styles of the teams in this World Cup are as follows:Passing-control teams mainly control the game through high ball control rate,more passes,and get more shooting space with more horizontal passes.Among them,horizontal passes can make the opponent’s defense loose in their tactical system,thus playing a leading role in the team’s shooting performance.Direct ball mainly obtains more chances to attack by passing more forward and long distances.Among them,the pass from the defensive zone 3 to the midfield zone 3 in its tactical system can make the ball go away from the goal faster and initiate attacks faster,but it is not conducive to improving the shooting performance and scoring ability of the team.Midfielder type control through more midfielder to regain possession of three times,and the high rate of the ball in the midfield three areas to control the midfield,including midfielder to regain possession of sanqu in its tactical system plays a solid defensive midfield role in midfield to organize attack,so the team’s shots on performance and scoring ability to play a leading role.The prevention and control teams in the backfield ensure the safety of their own defensive zone by more times of recovering the ball in the defensive zone and high possession rate in the defensive zone,among which the number of recovering the ball in the defensive zone plays a role in stabilizing the
