| Rural household’s education expenditure on their children is a future oriented education investment,which provides a way for rural families to achieve class transition and change their family outlook.Attaching importance to education and increasing education expenditure at the rural household level also fits the strategic vision of the country to narrow the gap between urban and rural education development,comprehensively promote rural revitalization,and develop human resources.Based on this,exploring the issue of rural household education expenditure and its influencing factors has important practical significance.According to the viewpoint of human capital theory and family capital theory,household education expenditure is affected by multiple factors such as public education investment,regional economic differences,pressure to enter a higher school,and internal characteristics of the family.This paper attempts to analyze the impact of macro environmental factors such as public education investment,economic level differences,and educational competition on rural household education expenditure,and explore the impact of micro factors such as household content characteristics on education expenditure,in order to clarify the net effect of rural household economic income on household education expenditure.Using CFPS 2020 household data and education statistical yearbook data,the paper reveals the effect of macro and micro factors on household education expenditure through multiple regression analysis.The research finds that:(1)the economic income of rural households has a positive impact on their household education expenditure,showing a significant income effect;(2)Among macro environmental factors,public education investment has a negative impact on household education expenditure,showing a significant substitution effect;Household education expenditure is positively correlated with the economic level and income gap in the area where the family resides;Household education expenditure is negatively correlated with local secondary school entrance examination enrollment rate and college entrance examination undergraduate admission rate,but not with primary school entrance examination enrollment rate;(3)In the family characteristic variables,factors such as parents’ educational expectations,parents’ educational level,whether the father works outside the home,and children’s age are positively correlated with household education expenditure;The number of children is negatively correlated with household education expenditure;The child’s gender is not related to household education expenditure. |
