In the 21st century, the rapid development of chemical and chemical industries, which are closely related to human life, has brought great pollution and destruction to the ecological environment while bringing people high-quality life.Human beings gradually realize that only preventing pollution from the source is the fundamental law for the long-term development of human beings. Therefore, the concept of green chemistry came into being.Middle school students are the hope of the motherland and shoulder the mission of the future development of the industry. Therefore,in order to better inherit and carry forward the concept of green chemistry,it is necessary to infiltrate green chemistry teaching in chemistry classroom, cultivate and develop students’ concept of green chemistry. In recent years, some achievements have been made in the research on the cultivation strategy of green chemistry concept, but the research on the formation of green chemistry concept of high school students needs to be enriched. Therefore, this study will take The Zaltman Metaphor Elicitation Technique as the research method, and take 11 senior high school students as the research object to explore the current situation of high school students’ green chemistry concept.First of all,140 pictures related to green chemistry were selected by consulting the data, and 40 pictures were selected after repeated tests to establish a green chemistry picture library.According to the ten steps of metaphorical interview technology, the interview outline of high school students’ green chemistry concept was compiled. Then, according to the green chemistry picture library and the green chemistry concept interview outline,pre-test interviews were conducted, and formal interviews were conducted after the problems were modified and improved.Respondents were asked to express their understanding and feelings of green chemistry in the order of storytelling, lost images, classification, concept extraction, most representative images, opposite images, sensory images, personal summary images and short essays. Finally, the audio of the formal interview is transcribed to obtain the initial information of the interviewees’ understanding and feeling of green chemistry. The key concepts extracted by the ladder climbing method are coded in terms of attributes, results and values, and the personal mental map of high school students’ green chemistry concept is constructed. Then, the common concepts and related concepts are analyzed, and the method-purpose chain technology is used to form a consensus map of high school students’ green chemistry concept,so as to obtain high school students’ understanding of the ultimate value of green chemistry and understand the current situation of high school students’ green chemistry concept. The results show that:(1)The green chemistry concept of high school students includes six aspects: happiness, security, sense of gain, health concept, environmental protection concept and sustainable development.(2)The essence of high school students’ concept of green chemistry is a concept of life;(3)Environmental protection concept and health concept are the core dimensions of high school students’ green chemistry concept. The innovation of the research is mainly reflected in:(1)It is proved that high school students’ green chemistry concept includes six aspects: happiness, security, sense of acquisition, health concept, environmental protection concept and sustainable development, which is innovative in content;(2)It is found that the concept of green chemistry of high school students is essentially a concept of life, which provides a new basis and reference for the teaching of green chemistry.
