Objectives:The cardiopulmonary function of middle-aged and elderly people with a long history of smoking is significantly lower than that of smoke-free smokers. Many studies show that respiratory function exercise such as respiratory gymnastics, oxygen exercise and body and medical fusion is beneficial to chronic respiratory diseases. There are few studies on respiratory function exercise of smokers in China, and the exercise effect of respiratory gymnastics on smoking patients is not clear. This paper analyzed the changes of the lung function and the quality of life of the elderly smokers after 8 weeks of respiratory gymnastics exercise.Method:Based on the survey criteria of the World Health Organization(WHO)for smokers, and taking respiratory gymnastics as an intervention means,27 middle-aged and elderly smoking patients were selected as research subjects in Liaocheng, all of which were experimental group(n=27).The experimental group conducted 8 weeks of respiratory gymnastics exercise 4 times a week and taught smoking knowledge once every 3 weeks. The following indicators were tested before and after respiratory gymnastics exercise:(1)general data: age, gender, medical history, smoking history, education, smoking status;(2)Lung function: expiratory vital capacity(FVC),forced expiratory volume in the first second(FEV 1),ratio of forced expiratory volume(FEV 1 /FVC),maximum ventilation per minute(MVV),peak expiratory flow(PEF),maximum expiratory flow at 25%(MEF 25%),maximum expiratory flow at 50%(MEF 50%),maximum expiratory flow rate at 75%(MEF 75%),forced medium expiratory flow(FEF 25-75%),6minute walking distance(6 MWT);(3)Quality of life: a modified version of the St.George’s Respiratory Questionnaire(SGRQ Quality of Life score),Quality of life before and after the intervention was determined based on symptoms, mobility, disease impact and total score.Results:1.There was no significant difference in the baseline test of age, gender and smoking history of middle-aged and elderly people before and after the experiment(p> 0.05);2.After eight weeks of breathing gymnastics exercise,The pulmonary function index of middle-aged and elderly people aged 45-74 in Liaocheng were compared with that before the experiment: the forced lung capacity(FVC)after the experiment was compared with that before the experiment,No statistical difference(p> 0.05);First second forced expiration volume(FEV 1)compared to before the experiment,No statistical difference(p> 0.05);The ratio of forced expiratory volume to lung capacity in the first second after the experiment(FEV 1 / FVC)compared with that before the experiment,No statistical difference(p> 0.05);Maximum ventilation per minute(MVV)compared to that before the experiment,The difference was statistically significant(p <0.05);Peak expiratory flow(PEF)compared to before the experiment,The difference was statistically significant(p <0.05);Maximum expiratory rate(MEF 25% at25%)compared to the experiment,The difference was statistically significant(p <0.05);Maximum expiratory flow rate(MEF 50% at 50%)compared to before the experiment,The difference was statistically significant(p <0.05);Maximum expiratory flow rate(MEF 75% at75%)compared to before the experiment,The difference was statistically significant(p <0.05);Forced mid-expiratory flow(FEF 25-75%)compared to before the experiment,The difference was statistically significant(p <0.05);The walking distance after the experiment compared to before the experiment(p <0.05).3.By scoring the modified version of St.George’s(SGRQ)quality of Life questionnaire for smokers, there were significant differences between all dimensions before and after the experiment, and the overall score was also significant different(p <0.05).Conclusion:1.After 8 weeks of respiratory gymnastics exercise, the values of MVV,MEF 25%,MEF50%,MEF 75%,FEF 25-75%,6 minutes walking distance were significantly improved, and the lung function of middle and elderly smokers was significantly improved;2.After 8 weeks of respiratory gymnastics exercise, the quality of life of middle-aged-elderly smokers was analyzed by the modified version of St.George’s Respiratory Questionnaire. The scores of the symptoms, mobility, disease effect and total score in the questionnaire were significantly reduced compared with that before the experiment, and the quality of life of middle-aged-elderly smokers was significantly improved.Propose:Through the smokers of breathing gymnastics exercise effect analysis, confirmed that respiratory gymnastics is scientific and effective, its scientific, safety, simple characteristics is not only suitable for elderly exercise,on the basis of improving smokers lung function ability can also improve the quality of life of smokers, worthy of widespread promotion and learning.
