| The theory of growth mindset was proposed by Professor Dweck in 2006.According to this theory,students with growth thinking believe that intelligence or abilities can grow or develop,thereby being able to more actively face failures and challenges in learning.Growth mindset can affect students’ learning motivation and mentality in facing academic challenges,so as to affect students’ attitude towards math learning and math achievement.Therefore,it is of great significance to cultivate students’ growth mindset in mathematics learning and the development of mathematics core accomplishment.Under the background of "double minus",the effective design and evaluation of math homework become an important way to reduce the burden and increase the efficiency.Growth mindset focuses on students’selectivity in math homework and the importance of mistakes in math homework.Therefore,it is of great value to explore the design and evaluation reform of math homework based on growth mindset theory.Based on the perspective of growth mindset,this study examines the current situation of junior middle school math homework design and evaluation,constructs effective homework design and evaluation strategies,and analyzes the impact of these strategies on students’mathematics learning.Specifically,this study focuses on three questions:(1)From the perspective of growth mindset cultivation,what problems exist in the design and evaluation of eighth grade math homework?(2)Based on the perspective of growth mindset training,what are the strategies for the design and evaluation of the eighth grade math homework?(3)What is the impact of the above implementation strategies on eighth grade students’ math learning?This study was carried out in a junior high school in Beijing,the author’s practice school,and it was mainly divided into three stages.In the first stage,two classes and their math teachers in grade 8 of the junior high school were selected as the research objects,and the basic situation of current math homework and students’ growth mindset level were investigated by combining qualitative and quantitative research methods.Summarize and find the problems in the design and evaluation of mathematics homework.In the second stage,the design and evaluation strategy of math homework was constructed based on the theory of growth mindset and current situation analysis.The unit of Axial Symmetry in the first semester of grade 8 was selected to design the form and topic of math homework,and the final form and specific topic of the homework were determined based on the guidance of teachers.In the third stage,a class of the eighth grade of the middle school was selected as the research object,the designed homework was assigned and recovered,and the new evaluation strategy was adopted for evaluation.At the same time,three students in the class were selected for interview,and combined with the relationship between students’ homework completion and growth mindset,the influence of improvement strategies on students was analyzed.It is found that the problems of homework design in eighth grade from the perspective of growth mindset include:(1)lack of innovation in homework design,(2)lack of selectivity in homework design.The problems in mathematics homework evaluation include:(1)Homework evaluation only contains simple right and wrong judgment and lacks diagnosis.(2)There is no in-depth analysis of the errors in the operation,and the importance of the errors in the operation needs to be improved.Based on the perspective of growth mindset,the eighth grade math homework design strategies include:enhance the creativity of homework,fully design and use of open inquiry homework;Strengthen the diversity of homework,design practical and mathematical writing and other forms of homework;Enhance the selectivity of homework,design different homework for students to choose to complete.The strategies of math homework evaluation include:(1)strengthening the diagnosis of homework evaluation and paying attention to the rational use of evaluation terms.(2)Pay attention to the errors in the operation,analyze the causes of errors in the operation evaluation and guide the direction of impro vement.Through the analysis of the relationship between students’homework completion and their growth mindset,it is found that enhancing the selectivity of homework can improve their enthusiasm to complete homework.Meanwhile,students with higher mindset mode in the dimension of "adversity" have better performance in three assignments.Through interviews with students,it is found that the above math homework design strategies can be accepted by students,and at the same time,the homework design strategies can improve the enthusiasm of students to complete homework and math learning,and improve the pertinency of math learning.In the aspect of homework evaluation,the above evaluation strategies can help students to clarify their own strengths and weaknesses,clarify the mistakes in homework and the direction of improvement,improve the degree of emphasis on mistakes,correct their attitude towards mathematics learning,and stimulate students to enhance their self-confidence in mathematics learning.However,this study also found that students also put forward further expectations for homework evaluation,hoping that teachers could give grade evaluation for different types of homework on the basis of enriching the types of homework.. |
