The fourth industrial revolution gave birth to many emerging industries,such as the Internet and artificial intelligence,leading people to the digital era.The outbreak of the COVID-19 has made the world economic situation more severe,but it also accelerated the process of digitalization.In order to meet the challenge of the epidemic and maintain normal production and operation activities,more and more enterprises begin to widely adopt the new organizational form of virtual project team.Due to the geographical dispersion of virtual project team members,there are many difficulties in the management and operation of this team.To ensure the success of the project,members need to improve their abilities,especially to cultivate and develop power skills.In order to explore the power skills that virtual project team members should have,the purpose of this paper is to build a power skill model of virtual project team members.Firstly,by studying the relevant theories of virtual project team,soft skills(the predecessor of power skills)and power skills,this paper gives the definition of virtual project team and power skills,and summarizes five power skills that virtual project team members should have: leadership,communication,empathy,teamwork and adaptability.Second,analyze the five power skills and summarize the corresponding characteristic indicators.Third,build a hypothetical model of power skills of virtual project team members.Fourth,the questionnaire is designed according to the hypothesis model to collect the data needed for the research.Fifthly,through the data analysis of the effective questionnaire,the hypothetical model is verified and modified.Through exploratory factor analysis,combined with relevant theoretical research,this paper puts forward a revised power skill model of virtual project team members,including five power skills and 15 characteristic indicators.The revised five power skills are team integration,empathy,leadership,communication skills and organizing online meetings.Among them,team integration is proposed by the integration analysis of “team cooperation” and “adaptability” in the original hypothetical model,because both team cooperation and adaptability are to ensure that members can quickly integrate into the virtual project team;The organization of network meeting is separated from the indicators contained in the leadership in the original hypothetical model,because for the virtual project team,the organization of network meeting is an essential key ability,which should be used as the primary index to evaluate the power skills of members of the virtual project team.At the end of the paper,according to the constructed model and the corresponding data analysis results,this paper puts forward corresponding suggestions,and holds that power skills should be cultivated and developed from three aspects: situational training of power skills relying on professional skills,establishing power skill incentive mechanism and improving the employment ability training system of colleges and universities.
