At present,the world is facing "profound changes unseen in a century".Black swan events such as the Russia-Ukraine war and COVID-19 are emerging one after another,forcing the global supply chain to face disruption or even collapse.Increasingly frequent supply chain disruptions challenge traditional lean management models.In times of crisis,as a dynamic capability that can effectively overcome supply chain disruptions,supply chain resilience has drawn more and more attention from academia and industry.However,resilience often means additional costs.How to efficiently build supply chain resilience is a key issue in the academic circles.The rapid development of information technology makes it possible to share high-quality information among supply chain members and provides an effective solution to this problem.The result of high-quality information sharing is supply chain visibility.Although existing researches generally recognize the promotion effect of supply chain visibility on firm performance,the mechanism between the two is still lack of theoretical analysis and empirical support.By reviewing and sorting out the existing literature,based on dynamic capability theory,this study believes that supply chain resilience is an important intermediate mechanism for supply chain visibility to affect firm performance.Through theoretical analysis,this study constructs a theoretical model in which supply chain visibility affects firm performance by shaping supply chain resilience,and discusses the moderating effect of environmental dynamism on the impact path.The specific research contents include: the impact of supply chain visibility(demand visibility and supply visibility)on two types of firm performance(financial performance and operational performance),the mediating role of supply chain resilience between supply chain visibility and firm performance,and the moderating role of environmental dynamism.This study uses questionnaire data from 275 manufacturing enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta region,and uses multiple linear regression and Bootstrap methods to empirically test the research hypotheses.The main conclusions of this empirical study are as follows:(1)Both dimensions of supply chain visibility have a significant positive impact on both types of firm performance.(2)Both the two dimensions of supply chain visibility have a significant positive impact on supply chain resilience,and supply chain resilience plays a partial mediating role between supply chain visibility and firm performance.(3)Environmental dynamism positively moderates the relationship between supply chain visibility and supply chain resilience,and positively moderates the relationship between supply chain resilience and operational performance.The conclusions of this study are helpful to deeply understand the mechanism of supply chain visibility on firm performance,and provide empirical support for related theoretical research.At the same time,it provides a new perspective for managers how to build supply chain resilience to improve performance in management practice.
